So I have an idea for a project and I wondered if anybody has tried anything similar.

I want to grab a non-emulator old-school famiclone such as a Dendy or this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-Genius-Computer-Game-System-IQ-501-With-2-Games-Golden-Mario-/262171725248?hash=item3d0aa70dc0:g:m7cAAOSwPcVVv8I S

I want to toss the chip and replace it with one of these: http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=RP2A03

And finally I want to replace the connector with one that will take actual NES cartridges: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-NINTENDO-NES-72-PIN-CONNECTOR-REPLACEMENT-PART-3-8-mm-BIT-DRIVER-ERASER-/380926628953?hash=item58b0ff1459:g:GjkAAOSwmLNTmZM N

If I'm correct, what I will be left with is functionally an NES in a weird Euro package (accounting for PAL video, etc of course).

Does anybody have any input or think that this is an intriguing/bad idea? Anything I'm not considering?

Yes, I could just ebay an actual NES, but what's the fun in that?

If your looking for a connector i would use one of these

http://www.tototek.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=22&products_id=179

Oem Nintendo style connectors are gone wear out over time or to will have to hack it up to make any use out of it
