Yep. There are 2 in that style. Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R. The first was an arcade game that was also ported to MegaDrive. I posted a comparison of those 2 ports in import mania awhile back. They're decent, but a little repetitive compared to TMNT.

Yeah they do as he said above, I owned both of them back in the 90s and they're actually pretty solid brawlers and fairly decently follow the manga/anime as well all things considered. They're on the level of Final Fight 1 and other basic brawlers, but lack the added fluff later ones on the SNES/SFC did as they're fairly basic presentation wise. There's not much enemy differences in the game, I think it has one or two less than Final Fight does so it gets kinda annoying taking down the same dude over and over with just a color change.

That megadrive game is the same as the one on SFC too.

They're worth it though R is better. Also if you like other sailor moon stuff the Super S fighter is fun and customizing ability levels can be done and there is this colored square drop puzzle which is good too all on SFC.

There is also an RPG which is pretty solid. (I have it available for trade/sale, trying to get a Japanese 3DS.)

My friend Geo bought both the brawlers so his daughters could have something to play. I remember actually having fun with it myself, even tho its (as others said) simplistic and I am not that huge a brawler nut to begin with.

The only time I actually sat down on a computer with an emulator to do an RPG with an english patch. That RPG is really good and I actually finished it. The only other time was when I helped for a long stretch testing FF5 when that was worked on by an irc friend of mine at the time.

The MD and SFC games aren't quite the same, there are some stages completely different in both releases, and the MD version plays a bit faster, and has an extra hidden boss fight if certain conditions are met (Queen Metalia, otherwise the game ends after the Beryl fight) that isn't on the SFC version. As for Sailor Moon R, it's speedy, but far too short for it's own good. Just when things really get good come 4th stage, the game is over. The game does allow you to play a mode with Chibi Moon, so it gets points for that.

And to the other person that said the first Sailor Moon games on SFC and MD were arcade ports, nope. It's another case of similar genre, but everything about the arcade version is different. Music is kind of tame, and the stages are completely different. And when you use one of the Sailor Scouts specials, a nice large picture of the Sailor Scout appears over the action, complete with announcing of what she is casting. Great game, but generic music, no Sailor Moon themes within it. Only one of 2 games Gazelle, a Toaplan offshoot, ever made (the other would be Air Gallet, a wonderful early bullet hell type game). The arcade version in typical arcade beat em up fashion, had a timer for each stage.

You're right. I had read that it was originally an arcade game on an old site years ago and never bothered to fact check. My bad. I stand by my comparison of the SNES and MD versions, though, of which I own both and have played extensively. I prefer the MD version, due to its faster play, smoother animation, and better music. Just wish it supported multi player likeSNES.
