Recently picked up a PAL Kolibri, and I when opening it up to clean the cart pins, I noticed that it didn't have the, what I thought was, usual internal shielding.

Pic comparison below, Kolibri on the left and my sample PAL 32X Doom.

Now I can see that the Kolibri cart is 'Assembled in the UK' and the Doom cart is made in Japan. My only two other 32X games in my possession are Star Wars Arcade and Virtua Racing Deluxe, both of which are made in Japan, both of which contain the internal shielding.

Now my question is: is this normal for Assembled in UK carts? Normal for Kolibri carts, or some 32X carts in general, or has the shield been removed at some point in it's life and ALL 32X games should contain them?

Thanks in advance for your help

p.s. long time no see Digital Press, tho I don't know if anyone around here will remember me :)

Out of the handful of 32X carts I've opened, none of them had any shielding, however all of those were North American carts. Not sure if that helps you at all tho.

In fact, I never knew 32X games had any shields until now.

Did the Japanese Super 32x come packaged with those RF shield clips you put on the console slot covers?

Maybe those were intended to take the place of them if you didn't have them installed.

Maybe, but the games I have posted above are PAL versions not Japanese :)
