Gauntlet (1985) for Atari 7800?

Is it true the Tramiel-era Atari ever had plans to port the real Gauntlet (1985) to the 7800? I know about a similar game available called Dark Chambers, though.

Apparently, the Gauntlet sounding digitized noise that you hear at the beginning of the game Jinks was originally digitized for the 7800 port of Gauntlet. It was supposedly finished, but it never made it to market. Who knows why. I'm guessing something to do with the Tramiel's legendary cheapness.
