I am looking for Xbox games that can be played co-operatively with another person. The only ones I know of are Halo, TimeSplitters 2 and The Sims - are there any others? I am especially interested in first-person-shooters, although any games will do. Does Medal of Honor: Frontline support co-op play? I am pretty sure it doesn't (I used to have the GC version and that didn't) but some guy in Blockbuster insisted it did, so I want to double check on that too.

Thanks!

Serious Sam on the Xbox has co-op play through system link, although I don't understand why it would take two people to complete such an easy game.

Mmm...I've never played Serious Sam, although I have heard that's it not too great. I am more concerned with split screen co-op games rather than ones that require the system link. I am trying to get my wife more interested in gaming and this has proved to be a good way... she likes Halo, anyway!

Serious Sam wasn't a total waste. It's actually a fun game. However, if your wife wants something as involving and as engaging as Halo, SS ain't it.

It would remind you more of a Doom clone with dozens of enemies all pouncing on you at once, but there aren't any vehicles to drive, either.

My favorite multiplayer game of the moment is Sega Soccer Slam, and it doesn't take long for people to get interested in it. I have a friend who came up for the weekend who doesn't even play video games, and he liked it a lot. You can punch your opponent and steal the ball, and it doesn't require a great knowledge of soccer to play it, but players have to compete against each other. Also, there are a good number of female characters in it, so women won't feel left out.

Bad segue, I know, but I've got a sealed copy up for trade...check out some reviews on ign.com and videogames.com and PM me if you're interested.

Ghost Recon and GR:Island Thunder are great choices. Just be warned that the original GR requires both players to use the same controller configuration (inverted or normal), but Island Thunder fixed this. So if you and your friend use different styles, forget GR, just get GR:IT.

Balder's Gate Dark Alliance is another great co-op game, it's a hack & slash with mild RPG elements, with some good voice acting.

I'll also second Serious Sam, while more of a Doom-style shooter (no real objectives other than kill everything), it is fun.

Hunter: The Reckoning is Co-op too. Although for some reason it's MUCH harder when there's more than one of you playing. Every sports game I've played on the Xbox has been Co-op (including Deathrow.) Other than that..well..I can't really remember. Oh, Wolfenstien does - although it does slow down quite a bit at times.

Conflict Desert Storm is an absolute blast in co-op play. (it supports up to 4 players at once! I've only played 2 however.) Despite it's average reviews, (mainly attributed to single player) once you throw a friend into the equation it becomes an absolute blast, trying to manage your squad members and take out the IRAQI tanks. It somewhat requires tactics too, as we'd distract the tank with one squad then attempt to blow it up with the demolitions expert.

Unfortunately, the game is very flawed. Some aspects (Like the Tank driving for example) are simply terrible, and really detract from what could have been a terrific game. My suggestion is to rent it, and see what you think.

The sequel is out soon. I'd probably suggest waiting for that until you draw judgement too. I myself am looking forward to it :)

Brute Force is another game in a very similar vein (3rd person squad based shooter with 4p co-op) and it also recieved very high reviews in magazines. However, I found it bland and uninteresting. It seems to be a simple "4 player run and gun shoot things" which tried to introduce elements of strategy unique to each player, but they never really worked since you could essentially shoot everything and no stealth/extensive sniping etc was required. I only played it on the easy difficulty however... maybe it gets better on higher settings.

I think Buffy can be co-op using a trick via the code to activate 4 player arena mode. But it's just an effect from the code and probably not really meant to be in the actual main game. The camera is only focused on Buffy, not any peripheral characters other users attempt to control.

Yes..I was just about to write that..

The damn game is awesome..I love the way you can rescue another soldier using heath packs...while they lie there dying.

If you want something totally different & dirt cheap, try Circus Maximus. It's a really underated game IMHO.

If you like sports games, NHL HITZ 2003 is a must-buy.

Although much maligned in the reviews department, Gauntlet Dark Legacy is quite a bit of fun with 2-4 player co-op.

Conflict Desert Storm is an absolute blast in co-op play.

Damn straight!!!!!!!! :rocker:

Single player is pretty average but get some friends playing alongside ya and it becomes an awesome
experience! It won't take you too long to complete though.

CDS, can't believe I forgot that one. It is great in co-op, I beat it in 2-player mode, and it was a blast.
Brute Force is another good one, plays similar to CDS in terms of squad mechanics and stuff, although I liked the realistic setting of CDS better.
Both are good though.
