So I was finally able to get ahold of a grey copy of Wcw backstage assault the USA version not the Msa version see photos below the boards are different. If someone has a copy of the MSA version could you snap a photo of the board so we can compare.

Pics below

Notice that the boards are different colours the chips have different codes on them.

If that adds up that's interesting. I don't see why it would be a swap of any sort, no value there to mess with it using a hair dryer to move a label.

Didnt you just get banned from Nintendoage and the thread on this exact topic locked? Im thinking someone may have proved you faked this.

Well I wouldn't know that because unless they're going to unban me from there I wouldn't have seen it.

They banned me because I was banned before. Dain and his band of retards need to grow up. I fucked when I first started collecting but haven't done anything in the past four years to warrant it.

I did not fake this cartrige I purchased it off eBay from a guy in Alberta. Also how the hell could I fake a board and chips ? Please tell me.

I purchased the bottom cart in this photo

Wasn't directed towards you Tanooki. To OP didn't know the real situation just making assumptions based on the banning AND the same thread being locked so I figured it was connected. My bad everyone carry on

The board doesn't really indicate anything. The CIC chips were made a week apart, and the ROM chips were made in the same week by the same manufacturer. If these grey carts are legit, they must just have been a bad batch. I would check to see what the back label stamp is for all the blue carts, as that tells you which factory constructed them. The back stamp you listed indicates that the carts were manufactured at two different places.

i'm gonna say it because well, it needs to be said.

it doesn't seem to make any sense to me that some one who created an account in 2011 would cook something up like this out of the blue.
speaking of blue, I have seen both blue and grey copies of these games in stores in the past. I didn't know it was something worth picking up but I remember it being odd that there were 2 colors of the same game

Wow, 60 to 80 dollars for that game? Rare variant or not, I wouldn't pay more than 60 to 80 cents for that garbage. For serious completionist collectors only.

That's exactly why it's that price Captain Obvious. :) It's another case in point of why it's a bad idea to be into cart based home Nintendo system games unless you have deeper pockets. Between the actually good stuff getting high, the more obscure solid games getting even higher, and then the obscure color stuff going up too perhaps influencing those who don't get why it is, it's just a bad thing all around. Just ignore it.

Looks like it's just the N64 version of screw variations.
Price gougers gotta have inane bullshit to artificially inflate the value of their games.

There's really nothing someone with a heating source from carefully taking off the label of one cart and putting it on another. It seems silly to pay more for a "grey shell variant".

Tanooki

That hasn't been a new issue, it's one that's real and exists but people like to conveniently ignore because they always feel as collectors they know better and can see a fraud. With a good even heat source glues can get hot enough to slide clean with barely a push using a razor so there's no curl or crinkle to a label. But you know, fools and their money...

Unless there's a difference with the game itself I don't see much point in looking for different cart colours, though I guess it's just something to do like looking for Color Dreams NES variants. The Turok variant makes sense as they patched something in it.

Others are a mix of a 1.1 fix for spelling or other minor stuff or just a cheap gray rerelease as is. Turok was the exception which is why I find 64 color hunting prices ridiculous since stickers can easily be swapped with heat and slow care.
