View Full Version : TRON 2.0 on Steam
So I see the Xbox-era TRON 2.0 is now on Steam (has been since October 2014 unbeknownst to me). Is it worth picking up? What's a good "buy price" for it? I'm willing to wait for a sale depending on its quality.
Normal price: $10

I have it on Xbox, where CIB used copies locally run about $8. It actually captures the feel of Tron pretty well for me. I get super motion sick while playing, though, so it's not one I can play often or for long. Still, lots of good computer personification and metaphors. At one point you have to go into an old mainframe and overclock it from inside... lots of amusing stuff like that.

I had a blast with this game. It wasn't perfect, but the biggest criticism I might have of it is that they give you some upgrades and make you spend for others...leaving you un-optimized unless you "peek ahead" at what upgrades you spent resources on that you could have gotten for free later. They also give you the biggest, baddest weapons really late in the game, so you don't have a ton of time to enjoy them. But they are pretty enjoyable. I liked the purple triangle (whatever it was called) the best.
But the story was compelling. It isn't really consistent with the movie that came out a few years ago, but that's fine. Some of the tech is a bit dated - e.g., one level has you going onto someone's PDA. Some were very cool - outrunning the burning, all-eliminating death ray of a hard drive reformat, for instance. Also, going to the old mainframe where the original TRON is supposed to have taken place.
Pretty creative level designs. Oh yeah - they also had lightcycle racing. I forgot all about that. That was very cool. Whatever cheap price it's going for on Steam is probably worth it.
Thanks guys, good to know.

If you're fan of the movie then yeah it's worth checking out.

I love this game to death, and I recently played through it. If you like the ambience and art style of the film, you'll love it.
Glad to see it's on Steam. Did they re-enable multiplayer?
Did they re-enable multiplayer?
I don't know. But in the world of computer games, mods are possible and easier to make than on more closed platforms. So if it has been done, I'm glad for it!
