I have a Mickey game for the Sega Genesis. At least, the case is. The game itself is a Mega Drive game. IIRC, I asked this question a looooooong time ago here and was told that Mega Drive games work on a Genesis and this was common practice for Sega to put extra MD games in Genny cases. Can anyone confirm? Would I have any problems selling it as is?

Some Mega Drive games play on a Genesis with no issues, while others have regional lockouts. I'd just plop it in and test it. Nothing will be damaged.

I've received a game like this, thinking back it was Shadow Dancer. I didn't buy it new but it looked pristine and got it with other pristine games so I think they were all bought new and taken care of.

Is your case a Canadian Genesis one? I think it's more common for Canadian copies to have Mega Drive carts inside for some reason.

It is all in English, no French anywhere.

Looking through the No-Intro rom set documentation, I see "Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (USA, Europe)". If this is the game in question, it is literally the same exact game with different labels slapped on for the two regions.

Sega had a lot of this going on with single games being made compatible with multiple regions. However, this was not consistently implemented so it will vary from game to game.

There's a third possibility but I imagine it's insanely rare. I didn't know it was possible until I witnessed it first-hand. USA Mickey Mania works fine on a Genesis but glitches out on a JP Mega Drive on the stampede stage. Mickey ends up high up on the screen and the level never ends. Prior to that you can't tell there's anything wrong with the game on the Mega Drive. Hopefully this is case is so rare that pretty much no other game exhibits this issue. It would consistently flake on the same level, the same way. Either there is an astronomically bizarre flaw this game exposes when run on a Mega Drive, or this is a sick twisted form of designing region lockout because you cannot continue to finish the game due to it.

When you say the game itself is a Mega Drive game, do you mean it has a Japanese shell or that it is in a normal US style shell but says Mega Drive instead of Genesis?

If it's the latter, then it's either a Canadian or European version that's been matched up with a normal US box and manual.

FJ846EUSASEGA is the Region Free Sega Genesis, anything after that has a Lockout chip installed,
you can use a Game Genie and region free codes to play games.

Good luck.
