View Full Version : Does anyone else have an eBay arch nemesis?

There's this bidder, who has more money than sense, or possibly just doesn't have ANY sense at all, who just kepps getting in the way. It's not that this guy's outbidding me, (which isn't typical), it's just that this guy's there, bidding on the auction, at least an hour before it ends, repeatedly putting in small bids that drive up the auction price. How many bidding wars will this guy be in with other NOOB's before he learns to PROXY bid?! This guy's there at nearly EVERY auction I'm interested in. AAAARRRRGH!! he's like a super eBay NOOB, but he isn't a noob, he's got 75+ feedback!

Seriously, it's like I'm Jerry Seinfeld (Why do they call it "tooth paste", it's not made from teeth, and have you EVER tried to glue anything with it?!), and this guy's my Newman.

Anyone else have one of these eBay arch-nemesis?

Yeah, there's this guy Racoon.... something. Always snipes my auctions after I bid up the price against newbs. Seriously, I bid on these auctions for an hour, over and over, and he takes it away at the last second!

Seriously though, there is one guy I see a lot, but he has more money (or a lot less sense) then I do, so I rarely even bother bidding on those auctions.

Actually I used to bump into lots of forum members in the past, but we've either come to agreements or I've steamrolled over them - it depends on how "cooperative" they were.

One that comes to mind is "ianoid". We were bidding on the same things many times for awhile there. Fortunately we've gone our separate ways, collecting-wise. =)

Yeah I have gone up against him a couple of times, I don't have a fast connection so I have a little disadvantage. :( If you are looking for SNES games, I will more than likely be competition if it is something I don't have (only 50 more games to go! 8-) )

"andre herreta" for driving up all the Bonk 3 CD prices!

Heh, I KNOW that feeling! Back over a year ago when I was looking for Ninja Gaiden SMS, there was a small drought of this game for a while, when not 1, but 3 of them show up on eBay within a few days of eachother, a single NOOB buys ALL 3! Needless to say, he temporarily drove the price of that game up by 200-250% for the next month or so.

I could have sworn there was an Andre character buying up several Little Samsons in a row at one point on ebay. What was up with that?

I've been caught in the crosshairs of sylentwulf's sniper rifle more than once.

Mine is sylentwulf too, but for a different reason. I like to peruse the listings looking for heavy items that are local to me, things that people wouldn't want to ship so they may not bid as much. Sylentwulf lists hundreds of things, in my region, all of them tiny individual lots or toolkits or things I'm not looking for... so I always end up looking at 500 Sylentwulf lots to find the 5 nonSylentwulf lots I'm looking for.

Where is [ladyofvines] getting all this INTV stuff?

Good question. Perhaps from the same place she was getting the ColecoVision items she had six or so months ago...

I used to get beat a lot...not by anyone in particular though. Then I discovered esnipe.com, thanks to other DP members (Thanks to all, btw).

Esnipe has saved me thousands, probably. Screw bidding wars. If I want something badly enough, I place a huge snipe bid....I rarely get beaten now. I used to get beat in almost every auction until Esnipe....so, sorry if I am someone's arch nemesis....I probably am though. Hey, you shoulda bid higher than me!

The FurryF*** who started this thread.

Oh, and making 1bigmig pay $75+ for a game that usually only tops out at $40. Revenge is sweet. :devilish:

That's cool, good luck getting one with the uber rare instructions. If another comes up I will bid AU$70.08 out of spite ;) I coolly passed on the other water damaged (or just overally ratty) one you won.

LOL See you in the future as I imagine we're both getting down to the same uncommons / rares

How many auctions did I drive the price up for you? I know there was a few. Did you seriously bid twice just to try and make me pay more? I normally would never bid before the last 10 seconds of an auction, but I didnt trust myself to get up to an alarm after only sleeping two hours. It was ending at 3AM here. Looks like it's almost time to join esniper or something like that.

Yeah, I'd like to know who the hell skiier_addict is! If there's ANY old factory sealed SNES games on Ebay, he will ALWAYS place a bid on them, and he's usually the FIRST bid on them too. I'm so sick and tired of seeing that name I could scream! But then of course he's probably even more sick and tired of seeing MY name, because I ALWAYS outbid him, unless I decide to LET him have it. I think I've got him trained now though, because he used to drive my final prices way up trying to snipe stuff from me, but now when he sees me sniping stuff he just kindly backs off and accepts the inevitable without making me PAY for it like he used to. I still wish that he'd go away though. He almost NEVER wins any of the SNES games that he bids on, and yet he's ALWAYS still there bidding on them, it's just ANNOYING! Why even bother? I think that's why he just leaves me alone now, because he KNOWS I'll win!

I am not going to name any names but when I was trying to get the last Intellivision game I needed (Spiker Super Pro Volleyball) the same damn people bid on them every time even though they already have several of them. Greedy bastards. I try not to bid against DP members unless it is something I really want. If you outbid me though I will go after you with a vengeance.

You know, I didn't see the complete one untill the final day. Stupid automated eBay search is only set up to look for the correct spelling "pak".

and I'll be happy knowing my crappy boxed copy only cosy me $20 shipped, and not over $80 shipped LOL

You'll never best me Mig. I'm alligned with the wily forces of the raccoon and the awesome power of SEGA. You're just a poser wanna-be.

I still need two games for the Intelliviision and Spiker is one of them. You ended up getting that one pretty cheap. I forgot it was about to end or I would have placed a bid on it. I also need Mountain Madness Super Pro Skiing. These games hardly ever show up on eBay.

ladyofvines buys a lot of items on the side. I know because the sellers have told me that they have sold to her. I wouldn't recommend buying from her on the side. One collector told me that he had very bad dealings with her.

Well, i do have 1 guy that always beats me to the punch on Sachen games. I was watching around 4 auctions at once, since they ended within 2 minutes of each other, and he snipes and wins them all.
Now, i know of esnipe.

Hehe, Re the 4 Pak

I sold one earlier this year that I found for about AU$5, with instructions for it, then sold on ebay to "smspower" (Bock) for AU$48.00. Gee Was I happy. I just made a photocopy for my own 4 Pak, It looks like an exact freakin original copy. As I said, if you want the copy of the simple instructions for yourself Raccoon Lad, just Email me and I'll be glad to send you a scan :D

Hey guys,

I have, well HAD! a nemesis (she) collects the same stuff i do ( snes games mainly) anyway at times i'd check auctions i'd bid on and sure enuff i'd see her user name as the winner, then when i was bidding on auctions she'd snipe me right at the end, (i think ok cool she wanted badder than i did ;) )

Not long after she starts selling snes games and consoles, in which i bought a few ( kind of sleeping with the enemy  )

Anyway i won a game and forgot to get back to her a few weeks later she got back to me telling me she had sold it on, i said sorry for the mix up, she said no problem (a few weeks pass)

I bid on another auction of hers i win and pay with paypal right after to avoid the same problem happening again, a few weeks pass still no snes (sealed) game, i get back to her and she says, she has no payment from me, i get her to check, she see's her error says sorry i get the game..

(a few more weeks pass)

i bid on a few more games i pay about 7 days after the auctions had ended (i was away and paid when i got straight back from my holidays...)

I left nice feedback and said thanks with an e-mail, No problems it would seem, then i see she has a few nice games i'm after i try to bid and find she's blocked me from her auctions..

So i send an e-mail (a nice one) and get no reply so i took it she was finished with me, so i let it go and forget about it then a few months ago i get up at 7am i'm after this mint snes game, 17 seconds to go i think cool got it cheap Nice!!, i hit refresh and God dammmmmmme she's back!! out bidding me on all the games i'd bid on!! and she won them all :embarrassed:

ahhhhhh women nice but Bitter in the end (well the snes collecting women anyway!! LOL )
