Had a chance to check this out yesterday and it looked interesting, definitely not what I expected. Keeping the NES visuals with updated fighting mechanics is an interesting choice and makes sense following the River City games released recently. One thing that I didn't get was only having a planned PS4/PC release and no other platforms. This would be a perfect thing for the 3DS or even tossing a last-gen version out could result in some sales.

Wait wait wait.

Double Dragon IV?

Considering that Double Dragon V already exists (on 16-bit consoles no less), its weird that we're JUST getting IV.

What's next, Leisure Suit Larry 4: The Missing Floppies?

Super Double Dragon is Double Dragon IV. It's like they just aren't aware of what already exists in the franchise.

Technically, Double Dragon IV was "Super Double Dragon".

Maybe we can use the law of double jeopardy with Super Double Dragon. If Tecnos doesn't acknowledge it, and made a new 4th Double Dragon game, then we could pirate the hell out of it. Of course not, but it is one of the worst naming decisions after the Xbox One at least. I'm glad Nintendo didn't call New Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 4 or 5, because those exist already. With Sonic 4, they can more or less get away with it since Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3D Blast weren't technically sequels.

So from what I can tell this seems like it ended up being a pretty cool release, especially priced at $7. Not nearly as much recycled assets as critics originally speculated and having the entire roster of enemies as playable characters is awesome.

I only wish this had came out on any other platform than what it did. This would have been a perfect Vita/3DS game, or a great entry for content starved PS3/360 owners.
