Opened all my Game Boy carts for something...
and while I found a couple that are showing early signs of battery leakage, I found my Kirby no Kirakira Kids is already caked in white powder that i presume is from the battery.
What should I use to try to clean it?

Neutralize the leaking battery material with lemon juice or vinegar if it's a base (alkaline) and baking soda if it's an acid or reactive metal like lithium. An old tooth brush or any small nylon brush would work okay. Then clean the area with Isopropyl alcohol. Finally replace the battery with the same type.

I used a baking soda+water mix to clean off the existing damage. I'll need to get my friend to help with removing the battery, at the least.
After I cleaned with rubbing alcohol.
I let dry and then I tested and the game seems to still function just fine aside from of course not saving. (wasn't sure if there was possibly damaged traces between the RAM and ROM. Guess I will find out later when I am able to get replacement batteries.
It seemed to keep the high scores while the game was running, just not after a power off and remove test.)
