Does anyone know when the NEStopia emulator will be renewed for compatibility with Windows 10?
Thank you,
Ben

Officially? It's been dead since 2008.

It was the only one capable of perfectly emulating the special FDS-related soundbytes - particularly those heard within:
Zelda no Densetsu (Japanese name of The Legend of Zelda)
Link no Boken (Japanese name of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link)
Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic (aka Dream Factory: Heart-Pounding Panic)
If anyone knows of any current up-to-date alternatives to NEStopia that also perfectly emulate the special FDS sound channels, please let me know. FCE Ultra is compatible with Windows 10, but it doesn't accurately emulate the special FDS-exclusive sound channels.

Try mednafen. I have no idea if its emulation of FDS synth is perfect as I never used it aside from Wonderswan emulation years ago. I've never heard an emulator produce the proper sound for FDS games that I hear from the actual FDS.

There is a fork that is still maintained: http://0ldsk00l.ca/nestopia/

I have no Idea, I don't use Windows. Have you tried the libreto port?

My flash cart plays FDS games that utilize only one disk.

I tried v1.40 of NEStopia on my edition of Windows 10 and so far it works great! But I do have one concern: possible virus generator, given how outdated that version is today?
Does anyone know where Martin Freij, the developer of NEStopia, is now?
