Hello, everybody!! As I always post everywhere, I have a project to build replica full size boxes for my systems. I've been collecting them since I was a kid (we call collecting now, but really I was always playing the contemporary system and stored them when I got the new one), and never even thought of keeping the boxes, and now, I'm always searching for boxes to buy, but they charge a lot of money in Brazil, so I decided to build some myself. My idea is exactly that, keep them neat and safe and not to fool anyone into thinking they are the original ones, but also to make them look as similar as possible. People've been really helpful everywhere and now I have a lot of art projects done, just waiting for me to print and actually build the box. Someone in a different forum suggested that I'd build mini replica boxes that would look very cool, and indeed they do. So if anyone would like to make one, all you have to do is ask me for a high quality archive of the art and I'll send you. It's really easy to fold.
Anyway, my neverending quest now is for a very rare box to the Videopa G7200, if you have one or know someone that does have it, please try and take some pictures or scans, so I can make the box. I'm also searching for the Intellivision 2 sytem box.
I'll try to post some pics here of what I already have, and if anyone has any interest, please tell me so. I'm not selling or anything, just making them available for whoever like it.
Thanks all in advance.

Love the idea and more power to you! I'd be interested in a Vectrex console box if it's possible.

Yes, I'm making some. I'm working on an Atari 2600 and Odyssey 2's The Voice boxes at the moment, but I take requests. If you are looking for something in particular, all we have to do is find someone willing to take pictures or scan the box and take the measurements. And whenever my projects are finished, I' ll post more pictures.

If you would be kind enough to take those pictures and measure the box, I'll be more than happy to make one. I just need a general picture of each size (high-res preferably) and some close up shots of pictures I can't find enywhere else, like pictures of the family and the ROB itself, of a specific person, I think you get the idea, so I can use the same picture as the box.

Someone from a different forum is helping me on those (Sega Genesis box), but I'm still looking for the measurements, which is the most important part of the process. And some close up pics from the console (at the box) the hands with the controller (at the box) and some other pictures that I can use the same from the box and are hard to duplicate.

There aren't any I'm particularly looking for myself, but I do have some decent boxes if pics are needed for a few consoles. A few I have:

Japanese Mega Drive model 1
Japanese Mega CD model 2
Japanese Super 32X
Japanese Mega Drive Sega modem, Meta Tap, and Controller
Jaguar
N64 basic set
Japanese limited edition transparent smoke PS2
Japanese launch Dreamcast
PC-FX
and several others.

My Jaguar box has a few dings, but the Mega Drive/PC-FX stuff is pretty clean and straight. I don't remember what else is in the unfinished part of my basement, but there's probably at least some Saturn, Wii, and PS1 boxes if not more.

Hello celerystalker, whenever there's a request for those boxes, I'll ask you, ok? And if there's some boxes that you'd want as mini replicas, tell me so and send the pics/ dimensions and I'll make it for you. Another idea is, whenever you have the time, you'd take pictures of one or two boxes and send them to me and I'd make them, even if there's no requests. As a result we'd have a large database with the files and whenever people would want to build the boxes, be it the small or regular ones, I'd always make them available, maybe even make a website as a search database for this kind of file.

Sure, those are almost perfect. The only picture that the glare can be a problem is of the face of the robot, the rest I can manage to replicate, and if I can't I'll ask you. So if you could take a couple more of the robot I think I can start the project.
And again, I can't thank you enough.

And I was thinking, that maybe, when you get to take the new pictures, you could take some of the bottom part and the flaps, so I can see how it is the folding and how it opens.

leonardobiagi

Regular/full sized please if possible :)

Sure, no problem. We have a few things to consider though.
1- Would you like me to send the phisical box from Brazil to the USA? (there's no problem with that, only that is going to be a little expensive)
2- Would you like the files so you can print it in a printing place and assemble yourself? (it's a very tricky process, but if you have some manual ability it would be no problem, and it's the cheaper way, with only the costs of printing in adhesive paper and the cardboard.) (and if that's the option, you can have the files right now) (but I would help you with the process of assembling it, sending instructions or making contact.)
3- I'm still to build my own box because the printing places at my hometown are terrible, so I'm in the process of finding the perfect place yet. ANd then do some tests.(so it would take some time until I send you an actual fine box)

But whatever your choice may be, I'll be more than happy to do it. Just let me know.

And before I go to bed, The back part of the box. On this I had to do some freestyling on the stars and had to make some decisions about the font and text, but I think I got away with it. I cleaned up some of the pictures, but I decided to keep some of the cardboard marks to make it look "boxy". I can clean it up if someone thinks it's not ok.

This was the most difficult so far, and I'm not happy with the finish. I had trouble finding the correct font for the top text, so I had to improvise and if you check real close you can see that. And the silver color that is hard to replicate (I'm not sure is it's silver or gray actually) and I used the same gray I used for the Nintendo logo.

https://imgur.com/a/qFi0g

Fluid_matrix, I still owe you the corrected pictures from the front box.
I have one or two things I'm might be missing. Did you send me pictures of the top and bottom parts? If not, could you take them. I guess the top is much like the side with the face of the robot, but the bottom part is important so I can see how the box is folded.
Thanks again

This weekend is Easter weekend, so I might go out of town, but I think I can finish the project in a week or so.

And now for the other side. The yellow seems a bit different but I left it consistent with the rest of the box. (There's a shadow in the original pic take makes it look different)

https://imgur.com/a/qFi0g

Now only the top (it's practically ready since it's just like the front) and the bottom to go!!

And once we get the full box, I'll post a picture with it all connected and will print it as a small box and post it as well. When they're apart, they might seem a different, but once it's assembled it's gonna be great!!

Tell me if you would like the original files to send to you.
Or if you'd rather me assemble it and send it by mail, but it will be expensive. International mail prices from Brazil are rooftop crazy.
And it will take me some more time, because I'm yet to figure out how to print and assemble a big box even for myself. (A decent one at least).

I'm gonna try and start the Sega Genesis box with the info I have. They are re-releasing the Sega Genesis (it's called Mega-Drive) in Brazil in July, and theoretically it will be the same box as the original release, and I pre-ordered it. If I can't get more information on it till then (I still don't have the measurements) I'll get it from the new box.

The The Voice boxes are ready!! Both big and mini. As I said before I decided to go full guerilla style on the box so, instead of looking for a place to print it all in one piece, I printed each face separately. First I assembled the box itself with the cardboard. Just plain, with no art. Then I glued each side and glue black tape on the edges. I never thought it would work, so I didn't take any pictures of the process, but it turned out really great and I'm very happy with my box. I consider this project done. Now on to the styrofoam part.

I got tired of the overcharging the printing places were asking to print a full one sheet print for me (sometimes the price matched buying a conole with a box!!!) so I decided to go guerrila style. I printed the biggets size they would for a dollar and glue it together. the perfect soluction? No, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results so far. Those are perfect!!! Thanks again!!! I'll be always grateful to you guys for that.
Did you remember to measure it?

PS - Culd you take a picture of the japanese characters from the bottom part of the box (a closer one). I think I'll use it from the pic instead of trying to reproduce it.

And by the way, does any of you guys have the Virtual Boy console box? The colorful one? I would love to make one of those as well.

Nevermind, I got it. Had to settle for the japanese one, but it turned out beautiful... I post later on the pics.

Sorry, didn't notice this at first. Here you go:

The box is 16.75" wide, 12.125" tall, and 3.75" deep.

Also, if you still need PS3 box pics, here's from my slim:

1033110332103331033410335

It's 13.25" wide, 13.125" tall, and 6.125" deep.

For some reason, DP is struggling to upload the picture of the back of the box. I'll keep trying.

I don't know why DP hates this box. I can try and send better pics via email. I've been trying to upload for 40 min. And it hates these photos.

Hi Cornelius, thanks for the reply! Yes, of course I want them!!! I love making those. If you would be kind enough to do that I would be forever grateful and owe you a bunch! If you would like to send me through email it's lebiagi@me.com since the forum picture posting tool is very temperamental. We use imgur as well. It's up to you.
All the best.

I started using the imgur website for that reason, only 10% of my pictures go through the system, the other ones are labeled invalid. Try the email option, as I can see the back part of the box is tricky because of the family pictures. If you could take a close up pic of those people, even at the front part (and by that I mean the screenshots at the side) will help a lot.
Thanks again for your continuing support.
All the best.

I hate to be that guy but the forum software indeed adapted the size of the pictures and they suffered from it, so if you could send them to my email it would be better.
Thanks and sorry for that. And please don't forget the close up pictures from the back part of the box, I would also like to be able to read the text to retype it.
Thanks again as always. lebiagi@me.com

Never got around to printing anything yet. I will eventually. My projects to-do list is extremely long, but my projects finished is a lot shorter. Don't worry about sending me a minibox. I don't mind helping out. :)

Forgot to post them with the pics. The box is 15" square, and 5.5" deep.

And I finally got the project done!!!! Here is the link to the files http://imgur.com/a/touIG . Your box and pictures were amazing. i actually did use everything from your pictures. Just the vectors parts and text I redid. And let's talk about the font. Couldn't find it. Anywhere. Not for free, not even to buy. So I found something that makes to job done if you don't put them side by side it will be okay.
Thanks again for the pics and on to the next project.
All the best.

And nere's the link for the Virtual Boy box. It was a pretty nice box that I used as a model and I didn't even had to change anything on the back of the box (and I realized I left the cuts on the right hand side...). Easy job. http://imgur.com/a/nz3NP

Hello again!! I'm trying to make a replica of the PS3 Final Fantasy XIII white lightning box, and I managed to get some pretty nice pictures from Google, to only thing I coildn't get was a nice picture of one of the sides (The one on the left of the picture...). I'll post the best picture I could get. So if any of you good souls could send me a nicer picture or even direct me to a site, i would be more than grateful (and please notice that I didn't even ask for lots of pictures and or measurements..)
