Okay I got an SCPH-1001

Okay, I got an SCPH-1001, and i have 2. One is made July 1995 and one is made July 1996.
They both have shitty KSM-440-ACM and AAM modules on them so is it possible to replace them with a KSM-440-AEM since i don't have a BAM.
Also is it possible without adjusting BIAS and GAIN.

No you need to calibrate everything as it is rare for you to drop a new laser in and have it work 100%. I managed to do it just once fitting a 101's entirely assembly into a 1001. The lasers are all compatible with each other's model some being better picks than others but the ribbon length and shape varies. Best to remove the laser from one and install it into the assembly of your target PS1.

If you don't calibrate it you run the risk of it:

1) Not working at all
2) Getting fried
3) Working poorly

There are YouTube videos on the topic and if you have a multimeter (and you should even if you're just casually working with electronics) it's pretty trivial to pull off even if you have no clue what you're doing.

What would get fried if not calibrated? Because i calibreated it with a mulitmeter. Are you saying that it's required to adjust bias and gain

Excessive power to the laser will cause it to burn out prematurely.
