Are there any NES emulators out there for Windows 10 which do not require older versions of DirectX extensions? It would seem like there are hardly any of those available that are updated to support Windows 10?
My present version of Windows 10
Edition: Windows 10 Home
Version: 1703
OS Build: 15063.483

Weird, both my Windows 10 computers run FCEUltra version fceu-0.98.15-rerecording just fine. Even if there are newer versions of that emulator available like FCEUx, I figure if it already runs all my games fine the way it is why update it?

The reason I am asking is because I want to avoid potential viruses from entering my PC whenever I do this anymore.

And you're under the crazy assumption that directX is a direct gateway to viruses?
Anything that ran on Windows XP if not that, Win7 will run in 10 just fine. I had 10 off and on for awhile and anything I threw at it ran just fine so I don't see the concern here. It's a PC, if you're not running bit defender or something else like that emulators and ROMS giving you viruses should be the least of your concerns where they'll come from.

And you can install DX9 in Windows 10, if that is any part of the confusion. It's just something that needs to be manually installed.
