I haven't read it yet; however, Old School Gamer Magazine sounds promising! And how often do you get video game magazines in print for free, anyway?

Edit: It looks like it is a reboot of Classic Gamer Magazine. Anyone remember that mag? I bought a few issues back in the day.

P.S. Awesome - I've created 2,500 posts on the DP forum!

It's actually not a reboot. Something entirely different with different owners.

Wow! Thank you for the link! A lot to explore on the front page. If I understand the description at the site, the free digital Old School Gamer magazine is different from the archive. The older Classic Gamer Magazines (six issues) in the archive section can be read thru Flash Player or as PDF download for permanent offline reference.

Aha! I know this guy. Well, I know of him, at least. Doc Mack is the owner of the Galloping Ghost Arcade in suburban Chicago. It's a vast warehouse with over 600 arcade video games. You pay $15 for the whole day and have free play on all the machines. I haven't visited yet (I recently moved from Minneapolis to Chicago), but I'll definitely check the place out.

I hope this magazine succeeds. Goodness knows how difficult it is to launch a video game magazine in the internet age (most kids only ever wanted previews and cheat codes, both of which the net gives away for free). Looking at the website, I see they're looking for staff, so if you ever wanted to break into the prozine business, here's your golden ticket.

Only the first issue was free but I was so impressed that I got a paid 1 year subscription. There was a handy Atari 2600 price guide in the back as well as an article about pinball from the 1930s. very interesting stuff. I like the advertisements, knowing where the cons and arcades are at. I think these guys are based in Iowa so it's good that they're local to me (I'm in MN)

I have the first two issues. I like tit. It's geared more towards classic arcade games than console games, but it's interesting nonetheless. Being new, there are some growing pains, like typos and copy/paste mistakes. But nothing that can't be overlooked, considering professional magazines you pick up from the newsstands have the odd typo now and then. It just happens more frequently in OSGM. But definitely worth supporting and reading.

I noticed a lot of white space in the magazine as well and very plain looking. I know that the thing probably has a limited budget though so I'm sure it'll get better in future mags

Got it. Noticed some spelling errors here and there, but beyond that, it's a great mag.

When are they going to start publishing letters to the editor?
