Anyone who was around while the Master System was on store shelves might be able to help with this:
According to the DP guide:
Rambo 3
"This title was packed into the Light Phaser Master System."
I can't find proof of this ANYWHERE!!
Is this another of Clint Dyer's "past contributions"
I need to know, is this DP entry total BS, or is there some validity to it?
Anyone clearly remember, or have proof that this was so?

FWIW, I never saw Rambo3 packed with any of the various iterations of the Master System.

I'm gonna bump this up in-case anyone else wants to chime in before I edit the DP guide.

I've been doing some SMS research of my own lately, and this claim doesn't make sense to me either. I have several reasons...
1) Hang On / Safari Hunt is an incredibly common cartridge. 'Nuff said. (Even out here in NES-Land, where SMS stuff is really hard to get, I would still be able to obtain at least five such carts right now if I wanted to.)
2) It doesn't make sense to sell a system with just a gun game...though the SegaScope package did come solely with Missile Defense 3-D, so I suppose it's possible.

On another related note, the DP Guide lists a whole bunch of games as being "built into" various editions of the Power Base. I know Alex Kidd made that list, and I'm willing to believe that either edition of Hang On might have too. But there are some other titles there that don't really make sense.
Also, does anyone know what the differences in the OS might be between different editions of the Power Base? My own unit lists "V 1.3" at the top of the intro screen...how many others are there?

The 1.3 bios is by far the most common, I think the Systems with built in games have V 1.4, exept the SMS 2, which technically may have V1.5, but doesn't say so on screen, but I still have to research that.
And as for the Guide, DP Guide 8 will have MANY SMS corrections. (mostly in the "cheats" category)

Realized something recently, thought I'd post it here.
I happened to glance at my copy of Hang On / Safari Hunt the other day, and noticed that it is lacking a UPC code -- most likely because it's a pack-in game. I assume Hang On / Astro Warrior is the same.
So. Are there other SMS games out there without UPC codes? That might tell a lot...

Not only corrections...itīs necessary to add a lot of games...

Hey, I found out that Rambo 3 WAS packed into the "light phaser sms"

Of course, it's a rare Euro only SMSII package.

SMS2 Does not and will not show the BIOS Version, Although I'd personally call it BIOS Ver 2.0, for obvious reasons. When theres a software error, the SMS 2 shows only the words "Software Error", sometimes accompanied with a Hum.

Buster douglas's title has been fixed, I don't think there were any others, What peripherals, the odd Euro ones? And as for prototypes, most of the ones in the guide already are marked for deletion due to lack of proof. So far the only un-released proto I've seen any proof of is Pat Reilly Basketball, and I've seen quasi-evidence of Exellent Dizzy collection. Hook is still a bit of a mystery, and other than that, there are NO other proto's, sadly.
Some rumor mill stuff has been added though.
Anyone with prototype or Rumor mill evidence should submit to the DP archives, or to me to insure it gets into the guide.
