I only have about 25 as well.
Super columns is a good puzzler, with a 2 player mode you can play against the computer. Both the Streets of rage games are decent ports. I'm currently hooked on the Mickey mouse platformer Legend (?) of Illusion. I do not like Mickey Mouse, but this is a solid platformer!
I won a master gear converter on Ebay, that I hope to get next week. I have high hopes that that will really make my GG shine. I will be playing Power Strike and R-type for sure. I 'hope' I'll be able to play Phantasy Star with it, but have my doubts. I don't expect text made for the SMS to be readable. I'd love to play Zillion with the MGC, but I'm sure that is a foregone conclusion.
Anyone try using NiMH rechargeables in their GG? I just got some NiMH, for this purpose (and my Lynx, and my GB's) and my GG does not like my NiMH's. It won't work with them. My lynx 2 does, but my Lynx 1 does not. If someone is successfully using NiMH's, what brand? I have a cheap chinese brand, and am totally game to buy a better brand, but don't want to buy until I'm sure they will work with the GG. NiMH's are not cheap!!

I used to have a Game Gear and about 20 or so games, but it disappeared years and years ago. I haven't picked one up since because it wasn't really that portable and it ate batteries like a mother. The rechargable battery pak thingie helped, but then the damn thing weighed 10 pounds and needed to be carried around in a big purse.
I remember these games as being especially good...
*Aladdin
*Baku Baku
*Bubble Bobble
*Bust-a-Move
*Dynamite Headdy
*Earthworm Jim
*Gunstar Heroes (This is the only GG game I actually have. I've never played it, but how could it not be cool?)
*Klax
*Ms Pac Man
*Panzer Dragoon Mini (never played this. Looks neat-o)
*Ristar
*Most Sonic games (except Sonic Drift 2)
*Shining Force (cool strategy/RPG)
*Tempo Jr. (Japan only, I think)
Avoid Smash TV at all cost. CRAPOLA! The Mortal Kombat games blow, too.

Wait people actually collect for gamegear? :o
I never would of guesed it. I have a few games but don't collect for it. Gamestop and them dont have it, so it's prettty much a strictly online collection.

I suppose that you could say that I collect for Game Gear since a couple of the games that I have are Japanese RPG's that are practically unplayable by me (doesn't stop me from trying, though!)
Two good games that I have (their imports) that don't need english are:
Baku Baku Animal
Puyo Puyo 2
Both are pretty nice puzzle games...although it seems to me that I've seen an english version of Baku Baku somewhere.

I find GG in the wild at pawns, garage sales, the odd game store, and at thrifts.

I've got a couple Game Gears and about 20 games. The GG version of the arcade game Mappy is pretty good. I've got the Japan release and I'm not sure if it has a US release. I picked it up at Gamestop though so it shouldn't be too hard to get. I enjoy World Series Baseball too.

I've got about 50 games for mine. The Sonic games (especially Spinball) are all fun, as are Devilish, Gear Works, Bubble Bobble, and Factory Panic (import), and I enjoyed Putt & Putter the first time through. There are too many me-too platform games, though.

Let's see... Don't listen to the guy who said Ms. Pac-Man on the GG is good, it's not. Pac-man is though.
And Phantasy Star's text IS readable on a GG screen.

Zillion works great on the convertor. Although you may have trouble seeing the land mines, its not unplayable. Now Zillion 2 on the other hand...
Also Hang On works well (astro warrior, not so much), and Double Dragon. Pretty sure Choplifter will too-can't say I've tried it.

The MGC came today! Wow that was fast..all the way from Australia!
Yup! You can even play Zillion! Whoah! I love this thing! It is now a fully portable SEGA Master System!!
If you love the SMS, and have any use for a portable, get yourself a Game gear, and a Master Gear Converter. Money well spent, as my GG library just expanded a great deal!

I don't really go out of my way to find Game Gear games, but I'll buy them if they're cheap. Luckily I found Shining Force cheap, which is IMO the best game for the system. Ristar is pretty good, and so is Dracula, which is a decently done Castlevania rip-off.

Funny thing... I was never fond of the Master System, but I *do* like the Game Gear, even though the two systems are very nearly identical.
I picked up a copy of Poker Pete's Solitaire for a quarter about a week ago. I've read negative reviews of the Poker Pete games (and I can believe them, since the game was designed by Adrenalin, the same folks responsible for the awful Genesis game Doom Troopers), but for a quarter, I'm hardly going to feel like I've been cheated out of my money.
My favorite games on the system are as follows. I've marked all the Japanese releases, and there are a lot of them!
Coca-Cola Kid (JPN)
Gunstar Heroes (JPN)
Mappy (JPN, includes an expanded game with vertically and horizontally scrolling screens)
Ninku Hiroyuki (JPN, and it totally blows Sega's version of Pengo away)
Sonic Drift 2
Fatal Fury Special
Castle of Illusion
The GG Shinobi

I am currently working on my Game Gear collection. I am finding it is underappreciated and games still can be found cheap. I have not had much time lately to play it though. I currently have 196 carts with 27 of those being European or Japanese and two label variations of Columns. Most of the Europe and Japan games I have are ones that have been released in the USA.
As for the Master Gear Converter, I found most SMS games to be playable.
Games that are really fast like flying games may have occasional graphics glitches and a couple shooting games such as Time Soldiers have the problem that the bullets disappear "between the lines" so if you are being shot at from the left or right side you may never see the bullets.

What is the output of the NiMH batteries? Most of the rechargeable AA batteries put out 1.2 volts vs. 1.5 volts for a regular/alkaline battery. Multiply this difference (0.3 v) times 6 batteries and you're down 1.8 volts, which is a full 20% of the Game Gear's power requirement of 9 volts.

I'm at 88 so far, 12 of which are the Majesco re-releases.

Might I reccomend the two Rayearth games from Japan, both not that japanese intensive, even for RPGs

:o Wow that coke system is very cool looking!!! Good luck finding one. I have around 20 games all are pretty common. Thinking of getting a master system adaptor though. I have 10 master system games and no master system. :hmm:

L_Lamb, do you know if Majesco ever released a Game Gear version of Frogger? I know it was in the works but I'm not sure if it actually hit store shelves.
(I've got the Sega prototype)

As far as I know, they did not. I was an RZone manager at Toys R Us when the reissued stuff came out. I got one of everything we received and I don't have Frogger.

Let me get them all together and I'll get a list posted. They're easy to spot because the cartridges are black and shine more than the original carts which were more of a matte charcoal color.

Okay, here's a list of the Majesco reissues that I have:
Caesar's Palace
Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck
Jungle Book
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-Man
Sonic Chaos
Sonic Spinball
Super Battletank
Looking at what's here, it looks like I just bought the ones I didn't already have; the only duplicate title is Sonic Chaos. There's a slight difference between the Sega and Majesco labels.

I've got about a dozen or so games and two systems (one black, one blue)
if anyone knows where I can get spare blue battery covers for it, PM me please.

I've wanted one for quite a while, but they were always beat up. I'd probably want to get the glass screen version that accepts the TV tuner, but then again when TV goes digital, the tuner becomes useless, and plus probably that glass screen is harder to replace than the plastic one. Games aren't that hard to find around here! Of course, they are probably all commons though (Sonic's, sports games, etc).

I recommend Vampire: Master Of Darkness. If it's the same game that someone else referred to as Dracula in this thread, then yes, it is a Castlevania rip off - although a very good one.
Check out the review of the SMS version (which is identical to the GG version) that I wrote a short while ago if you want to find out more about it: http://www.geocities.com/opcfg2/modreview.html
I think the only thing that's really different between the two is that the status info was split up between two seperate screens on the GG version (when you hit pause), to give the playfield more room. You can compare the two versions here: http://www.geocities.com/opcfg/vampire.html
