It's because they're related to Final Fantasy, and it features SEPHIROTH. OMG!!!1
People who pay that much for a toy/figure should be beaten mercilessly. Unless it's one-of-a-kind or something.

I agree with Oobgarm. Why do people pay so much for stuff from FFantasy? I admit, I love a few of the games, but its just a figurine. These companies put out so much extra non-game crap that 'collectors' are supposed to buy up. Its all just an over-hyped waste-of-money (no matter how rare it is).
Don't get me wrong, it is kinda cool. But its not resonable to pay sooo much for stuff like that.

There are few figures that I will pay more than $20 for. That said, I don't buy many figures and when I do, I try to get them for under $10. But this....this is absolutely nuts. That materia stuff looks nothing more than a giant prayer bead that was popular in jewelry for girls a few years ago. And next to it? One of the $15 FF7 action figures.
The most I've paid for FF merchandise is $45 for the Rikku 1/6 scale figure. And that price included shipping from Canada...the other 5? under $15 each.
PS-Ooby~ did you get those KH figures for me yet?
They pull that much cash because to the buyer its worth it. I hate when people ask questions like this. They may think that you dropping a $100 on a video game collection at a yard sale is a waste as well. To each is own. Don't ever question consumption, because you won't ever make any progress.
