At a yard sale:

Brain Age 2 (With case, manual and papers)
Nintendo DS Lite (Crimson Red) With Traveling Case & Power Adapter

$10 total. I should be able to re-sell these easily enough.

Non-Game Items:

Black & Decker Arctic Twister (It's an Ice Cream Twister) - $2.50
Groundhog Day DVD (Like New) - 35 Cents
Marble Rolling Pin - $2.50

EDIT: I'm also pleased to find the Pong console I bought in July is not so common; Montgomery Ward's "Video World of Sports" is an R7 in DP's Rarity Guide. (I just looked it up, months later.)

I had a good run on Monday. I had an actual lunch break whete I could do what I wanted! So I hit up a thrift and found something I never found in the wild: A Microvision! It came with Brick Breaker and everything looked great save for a missing rubber foot. After work I hit a coupke more thrifts. Here's the run down:

Microvision console with Brick Breaker: $3 (got for free with coupon)

Adult Pac-Man costume: $5

Super Mario Land cartridge: $4

The Microvision works great. The kids passed it around to check it out. The costume needs something to widen the top if Pac's head. It fits over your head and covers the torso and waist. Right now it looks like Pac is pitching a mental tent when I wear it. I haven't tried Mario Land yet.

I dont know where/how you guys are able to find games at garage sales, thrift stores, flea markets. Im lucky if I see a copy of NBA Live 2003 for Xbox at a garage sales. The flea markets Ive been to just have resellers. Nobody selling games that have been in their basement for 20 years

Until recently, game hunting has been fairly dry or if I do find something, the price is inflated. The local Goodwill has a bunch of PS2, PS3 and Wii games but mostly sports related or dirt common stuff like Uncharted and the like. They get some DS/3DS games but they are mostly the kid stuff. Anything older is rare to find. I haven't been to another thrift that's nearby that Goodwill in a while but there it's usually bare. Once I found a couple good Gamecube games (one was Legend of Zelda:Twilight Princess) but that was a blue moon affair. The Salvation Army downtown has had zip for years.

Where I live there are two thrifts: a St Vincent's and a place called Neat Repeats. The latter doesn't always have games, though when they do the price is usually right. The St Vinnys had games at good prices on a fairly regular basis until possibly someone there started checking eBay on collectible prices. Then there was a drought as more stuff was put online. Then after their remodel they put out a load of post 2000's titles but most of the prices were rather high for a donation shop. There was a Tony Hawk game on Xbox going for $12 which I've seen at game stores for less. After a while, more releases came out but more at the "thrift store" level as no one was buying. Hence probably why I got Contra for cheap. Right now their old stuff is out save for some GB snd GBC games.

My area could be going through a game collecting renaissance of sorts where buyers looking to flip have moved elsewhere or onto other things or people don't want to go through the eBay hassle.

Wow, that was unexpected. I've never even seen a Microvision in person in a dedicated retrogaming store, congrats!

It has mostly been dry all across DP since 2012 - 2013 according to DP's Finds threads. Don't ask me how exactly I found two N64s, a Playstation and Gamecube in the last 3 weeks for $33 (not counting gas money.) I do live in Northwest Pennsylvania in a rural low income area, that might have something to do with it but I don't really know.

I will say that when I found the Power Glove, it was being sold by someone leaving his apartment. He wasn't your usual gamer, he was interested in fabricating things from games and I didn't even want to stop at the yard sale but Father said "Let's go." Funny, it was the same exact story in August 2004 when I got 68 NES games for under $20 at Goodwill; they weren't out, I wanted to leave, Father found 3 SNES games and then BANG. They weren't all Sports titles, either.

Goodwill has been reselling at ShopGoodwill.com. I don't suppose that's the only reason why I haven't seen anything there for years but I haven't been looking a lot either since it seems so dry. Then again, who knows unless they are there? One of my best finds was in a Goodwill just as they brought the games out. I know it was during the used market recession (if you can call it that) in August 2004 but my point is, unless you're there and you find something and post about it then who knows but the few employees who may not even care?

If I'm Thrifting, I don't only look for Games anymore. A few weeks ago, I found a Bathroom Exhaust Fan and paid a few dollars. It's worth at least $65 with free shipping on eBay. I'm off topic.

I haven't found anything recently. There are some PS2 and Wii games in a Thrift Store and I don't care to pick them up. I saw two Wiis in the same store weeks ago and passed.

Yesterday: one "Acceptable" Condition copy of Star Raiders on A2600 - $0.25 (Label has gunk on it and is peeling off.)

There were other 2600 games in boxes at the same sale but not at Yard Sale prices.

I went to a thrift store today and left with CIB ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron.

They also had several PS1, DOS, and even a few 3DO games that I almost got, but passed on because they were disc only.

I rarely ever go to thrift stores - I only go to used movie and game stores. I recently picked up an original Xbox to replace my dead one, and digging through my games I found the ones I want to play the most have no discs in their cases. I ended up paying $24.95 for a copy of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel yesterday at a GameXchange. That ticks me off, since everybody hated the game back in the day. I think it might have been Fry's Electronics that had marked down the PS2 and Xbox versions to $9.99 a few months after its release. Having never played any Fallout game, I ended up loving Brotherhood of Steel since it was akin to the arcade game Gauntlet with strong RPG elements bolted on. Now I'm paying $25 to play it again. Over time people realized it's a really good game and have bought them out at every game store.

A few days before I also finally found a copy of The Simpsons: Hit and Run for the Xbox. It cost $19.99. It was really difficult to find - I had to drive to the far side of Dallas to get it. The Simpsons game Road Rage is in every used game store just about, and yet Hit and Run was nearly impossible to come across.

This Weekend was the last weekend in a year for one Flea Market. I didn't go there but I go on its route which has yard sales. I was going to one yard sale after the other and I stopped at what I thought was a Garage Sale (minus a sign) because the garage was set up like a Garage Sale. I looked around, saw a Playstation controller in a box of wires, dug in it and found a Super Nintendo at the bottom. (Note that I'm living in Pennsylvania, not Texas and there were no "No Trespassing" signs at all. I don't recommend doing this in Texas, very bad idea.) I rang the doorbell and asked, a woman came up and I asked about the Super NES and she asked the owner about it but she asked in such a way that I wasn't satisfied (it didn't sound like the owner knew what I was talking about) so I came back a few hours later and (nervously but pushing on politely) I inquired again, we went to the Garage and I showed the SNES, she took the Super NES to the owner (who turned out to be in her 80s, I'd guess) and we agreed on a price of $5. There was also a Playstation but I wasn't interested.

No power adapter.

I also bought these which were good deals:

Small Panasonic CRT with a VHS Player Built In - $2 (no remote)
50s / 60s Hoover Constellation 843 Vacuum with Attachments - $10

It feels almost like 2005 again.

Funny you should mention that. I just bought a effectively loose copy of Death Stranding for $25 out of a red box machine because it was more of an idle curisoity and if i really like it that much i can always get a case for it later on ebay i am sure.

Also heads up, Redbox is not doing game rentals and more and all the machines arround where i live are selling the games out of the box, sure they are disc only but some of them are more than 50% off new prices

traded in a few items today at gamestop for store credit...a spare (finicky not really working genesis system)...an extra copy of mickey mouse castle of illusion (also notone working wont go past sega logo), an extra ds lite i had (left bumper doesnt work), an indigo gameboy advance system, ..and an extra gameboy color i had....got right at $100...transferred to money to a gift card and went to gamestops online store and purchased:

Gears 5 (xbox one)
ultimate mortal kombat on nintendo ds
spiderman and venom maximum carnage (snes)
ssx 3, kingdom hearts chain of memories, and mario and luigi superstar saga all on gameboy advance

all the items cost exactly the amount that was on the giftcard....$96.33 lol

normally i dont order disc based games on gamestops site because i want them complete...but gears 5 was new and it was 29.99 so i jumped on it...the cartride based games...i dont really care if they dont have box and manual since i rarely see those out in the wild anyway
