When you love lists of "the best" games, and wish that someone had gone past the usual top 100, so you decide to just play every game so you can put together that sort of list yourself:

bold to not include combo carts. So if you were reviewing NES games would you not include SMB/Duck Hunt? If it were Genesis, would you not include 6 Pak?

Perhaps that is misleading. The combo cart in question is the Exertainment cart, which has a gutted Speed Racer and the rebranded Cannondale Cup. Which probably isn't playable without the bike peripheral. It was a bit of a grey area.
In the case of all the NES games, I'm not sure. I think I would lean against it. Otherwise you have three version of Super Mario Bros. In the top ten? You'd have to bundle them together.

I don't really see a point in reviewing combo carts if you're covering the games individually. It goes without saying that the combo is the better value (if the games are the same and if the prices were equal, at least), but being in a combo doesn't make the individual games any better or worse.
