Is there a good way of testing lag time for various game consoles and setups? I know some of the SD card cartridges have button testing features, just wondered if there was something like that for lag, and even for disc based consoles

Thanks

I think theres lag with the Wavebird controllers, but wanted to test it to see if it was my imagination

The only issues I ever remember hearing about was using them on a Wii would interfere with the wireless signal on online games. I've used mine a lot and never noticed any lag but then again, I've never tested it. I'm sure you'll see some lag, but I'd guess it'd be negligible compared to a wired controller. I'm interesting in seeing what you find out.

Yeah, there is definitely some lag, as there is with virtually any wireless controller versus a wired controller. That's just the nature of wireless controllers. But how bothersome it is comes down to opinion and also depends on the game. Even a slight bit of lag can really mess with, say, rhythm games. I know lots of people who can blow through PaRappa the Rapper on PS1 like it's nothing, yet they find it all but impossible to play on PS3.

So update if anyone is curious... there is a lag test on the 240p test suite. you press the button when the shape lines up with the other shape. more of a reflex test than a lag test I suppose but if you're comparing it from one monitor to another, it'll give you a good idea of the level of latency on your setup

over an average of 10 tests for my Dreamcast on my CRT, I got 11 ms or .66 frames of lag

If anyone cares... I ran some testing... 164% greater latency between my CRT setup and my upscaler setup. 10.75 ms versus 28.42 ms. no surprises there. I would do a straight test on my LCD display without upscaling but I don't have the proper cables and I don't play that way anyways
