A while ago, I made the plunge and ordered my first Famicom cartridge. Here's my story.

Here in the states, growing up, I never realized Nintendo cartridges were in any other shape than the good ole gray and gold. When I got older, I began to find out that not only was there a different shape of cartridges, but there were games WE DIDN'T GET!?!?!

I had enjoyed Goonies II growing up, assuming it was called Goonies II because it came after the movie. Then I find out, Japan had gotten another, earlier Goonies game?! I had to try it!

My Famicom version of Goonies finally came, along with the 60 pin to 72 pin adapter to play Famicom games on my Retron 3. I plugged it in... and Nada. It didn't load! I was so disappointed!

It's been a couple weeks, and I finally figured out the problem. While most cartridges go into the Retron 3 with the Label facing the front, the Famicom needs to plug into the adapter... backwards!

But it works! 2 pics attached.

The Goonies was pretty much guaranteed to be in the bootleg multicarts we had available here in Brazil back in the day. I really love that game!

The first Goonies game I ever played was the C64 game, which doesn't seem to get a lot of attention online. Back around 1988 my friend babysat for a family that had a C64 (and, apparently, a coke habit!), and I came over and we played a few games.

I seem to remember that we got close to beating the game, but didn't quite pull it off.

I all ways found it odd, goonies 1 was only available in the arcades for the u.s.Where the game ran on a playchoice 10&nintendo vs arcade cabs.I remember as a kid getting to play goonies at a chuckie'cheese on a vs.Beside, being disappointed to found out the nes just got the sequel and not the first game like the famicom did. When i bought a famicom av back in 2006 goonies was the first one i imported for the console.

Konami is always a good choice for one's early foray into import games. They've got a ridiculous amount of good stuff that only came out in Japan (or sometimes only Japan and Europe, strangely).

I should pick up a copy of Goonies sometime. The movie is one of my top favorites ever, and I've already played through Goonies 2.
