The Halcyon story wasn't nearly as widely known in 1992, and I would imagine its value would have bottomed out in the 1990s, with little demand then. I've heard that a Halcyon was sold in 1999 on eBay for something like $1,500 IIRC. I would imagine would have gone for maybe $1,000 in 1992.

The story was known well enough that people were looking for it even in 1992. I started collecting pretty seriously in about 1991. The Halcyon was always at the top of my list ever since Electronic Games magazine ran a multi-page story about it in in the mid-80s. I even ran classified ads in San Diego where the Halcyon was manufactured in the mid-90s looking for one. Interestingly, I was also the runner up on the $1500 Halcyon and the only reason I didn't bid it up more is that I was in my last semester of law school and I was working full time to pay for law school and the math just wasn't right to go higher. Having said that, I found the motherlode of Halcyon material less than a week later and while it ended up costing more than $1500, the owner allowed me to pay over time. I probably would have paid $1500 for a Halcyon in 1992 and maybe even more, but I don't think any surfaced in that era, at least none that I ever heard about.
