I picked up these cards (for lack of a better description) at a lawn sale this weekend. I have 3 copies of each one, and there are three different "subjects" for each of the three. One is "the Human Body", topic is "How do we hear?; another is "the Universe", topic is "Is the Earth cloer to the sun in the summer?"; and the third is "Science and Technology", topic is "Where do colors come from?". Mario is on each one, accompanied by a few other minor characters from SMB. Anyone else seen anything like these?

I am suddenly having flash backs of getting something like that in school. Memory is fuzzy though.
If you got extra sets I might be willing to get one of them off of you. I'm totally into obscure Nintendo stuff like that.

Is this one of the things that Nintendo did before producing video games. Is there a date on the card. I think tha would answer alot.

I have a complete set....I think. They came in this large blue box that says "Mario Trivia Cards" on it. They are exactly like you described, but I have a few more categories. I've never been able to find a listing, but I've got a ton of 'em so I'm only assuming their complete.

I think you're thinking of the Hafanuda playing cards they used to produce before they got into the video game business...and those would definitely pre-date Mario, so this is something much more recent.

Oooh, neat :) Yeah, for some reason there are three of each card (and actually one of them has four) that this woman had at the lawn sale. I'm not sure why the duplicates, because it would mean they'd have to have more than one set, right? Or do you have duplicates in yours?

I'll have to see. I remeber dropping the damn box and screwing it all up, so it may take me a bit. Never really investigated them that much..

Btw, I found this link, which shows some of the cards, but that can't be all of them, if they come in a box like that!

I'll send you an E-mail next time I get down there with a pic. I'll try to see how many I have too.

For those interested.. It appears these came out in 1995, and that there are about 1000 of the cards, which came in individual "packets" inside the boxes. There were 18 different categories; according to an already ended eBay auction, the set: Includes questions on Medicine, History, Infantryman's Equipment, Army Headgear, Congressional Medal of Honor, Arts, Sports and Leisure, The Universe, Geography, By Air and By Sea, Oceans and Air, Geography, wild Animals, People of the World and much more. Another ended auction with an opened box appeared to have an instruction manual and a set of stickers, too.
Here's a couple of the photos Matt sent to me: (Thanks again!)

Isn't it amazing what a box of freakin' trivia cards will make us do? :)
By the way, some of the questions on these things are ridiculous....There's no way a kid would know the answers.
