I picked up a Fighter Stick SG-6 for the Genesis. It was loose, but in seemingly great shape appearance wise. Only thing is, I can't get any of the buttons to work, even START. Well, I haven't tried the other buttons since I can't even get Start to work. There is a MODE button on this thing, I'm assuming I need to do something with this to get the Stick formatted or something. Anyone with one of these got instructions on how to get it to function properly on the Genesis? I'm almost positive it has to work, the thing is like brand new on the outside, no sticky buttons or anything.

The Mode button should just switch between 3-button and 6-button mode.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the stick actually fuctioning.

Looks like I have to break mine out and try it now...

I used to have one (pretty lame stick if you ask me, Sega Arcade Power stick ROXXORZ)
It was pretty much just plug & play.

I think it may be broken :/ I'll take it apart before I toss it, but I've been fooling around with it and it doesn't work right. I started a game with a regular pad, then plugged in the SG-6 and the buttons all work, but the stick doesn't function right. Weird though that if I boot up my Genesis with the SG-6 plugged in, the whole stick doesn't work at all, including Start. :hmm:

Annoying. $7 down the drain.

Sorry to hear it won't work. I believe these brand of sticks can be had for cheap, new on Ebay though..

If it seems totally dead, I'd look at replacing the cable, as a repair attempt. Often, totally unresponsive controllers have a wire or two severed inside the cable, even if there is no exterior evidence of a cut. Excessive flexing or twisting can cause this. You could continuity test the cable with the stick apart and a multimeter first, to be sure.

Good Luck!
