Any console, it just has be a game where 3 or more players can play at once, offline.

For me, the N64 is the undisputed king for these type of games. I probably dont even have to mention them but 007, Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Smash Bros.

Outside of that, I liked Halo, Fuzion Frenzy 1 and Gauntlet Dark Legacy. I was never able to play 3+ multiplayer on Hunter the Reckoning but thats one of my favorites. Crash Team Racing was fun as well back in the day.

For me it's 'Fuzion Frenzy' and 'Bomberman Jetters'.

I'm pretty sure I've played those more than any other 3+ player simultaneous offline game that wasn't a 'Mario Kart' or 'Golden Eye' (or course)

Playing 'Fusion Frenzy' (with the DDR 4th Mix Soundtrack) was our freakin' life for like two years straight. It would have justified owning an XBOX if we never had another game for it.

Man, I really miss bring able to use your own custom soundtracks to games.

My favorites are Mario Kart 64 and the Monkey Target mini-game in the first Super Monkey Ball.

Any of the AKI N64 wrestling games. WCW/NWO Revenge, WWE Wrestlemania 2000, or WWE No Mercy. Likely the Smackdown games too but I've never played more than two player on those.

Have you played Gauntlet: Dark Legacy on the PS2? I am wondering how that compares to Gauntlet Legends

They are pretty similar. I have it on Xbox. DL has more characters to unlock, player combo attacks and more things to collect.

I've played dark legacy on gamcube really the same game but dark legacy does has more content.I was trying to think of a dc game that has multi-co-op and legends came to mind,it is a good port of the arcade original.

N64, DC and Xbox original were perfect for these games with their 4-controller ports ;)

Dont forget GameCube.

Yeah it seems like the systems that only had two controller ports didnt get much on them for 3+ player games despite having multitaps. Im guessing developers figured people wouldnt want to buy their game if they had to buy a $15-25 accessory with it just to play it.

For 6th gen, Xbox was the best system for split screen gaming IMO

So nobody mentioned Secret of Mana or some of the Bomberman games? I don't really play games with other people but I've been curious to play these multiplayer.

I've rarely been able to gather 2+ people to play Bomberman with me. I've mostly played the games single-player, sometimes 2-player. Same sort of deal with Secret of Mana. I've played through the game multiple times over, but it's been exclusively single-player outside of a tiny bit of 2-player. Secret of Mana seems like the kind of game that's best played multiplayer when you're a kid and have got siblings to play with you every time you start the game. I don't think it would be very engaging for someone who's just picking it up midway through, without having any idea what's happening in the game.

Gauntlet Legends is definitely the better game, IMHO. I beat Gauntlet: Dark Legacy with my wife recently, and we found it OK but not as good as GL. Many of the levels go on way too long, the stage ordering makes no sense, and there are a bunch of crippling bugs in most versions.

I guess, gauntlet dark legacy over stays it's welcome with the additional levels but i was never bother by it.Though, only bug i encounter on the gc port was the game freezing but i often save and i still completed the game.Still when that freezing bug happen it was annoying.

The most fun I ever spent crowded around a computer was playing Psygnosis' Hired Guns, the screen split into quads, with a regular group of four players. Sure, it had an FPS of like 1 frame per second, but it was truly a blast to play.
