Hi Everyone!

It took me more than year, and a change of publisher, but my game "30 Years of Nintendon't", released for free online last year to celebrate the 30th birthday of the Mega Drive / Genesis, is now finally available on cartridge! (http://cotegamers.com/shop/en/genesis-mega-drive/43-test.html)

Alongside this game, you'll also get two bonus arcade games I made on the cartridge:

Break An Egg:

MeteoRain:

The cartridges and boxes are manufactured with high quality newly fabricated parts: the cartridges are made by Second Dimension, and the boxes are made by CustomGameCases. You'll also have a set of 20 post cards as bonus that celebrate the most iconic games of the console.

You can buy the game directly from the publisher, Cote Gamers:

I hope you'll enjoy this physical release of my three games! :)

You should post about this to the SEGA Genesis / Mega Drive collector groups on Facebook too!

Thanks for the tip!

Sadly I don't use facebook personally, but I know my publisher does have a FB account, so I tell them to spread the word there.
Do you have the address of the group?

I watched a Youtube video of it. If you want my honest opinion, it looks lame. I was expecting a trivia game with questions about the Genesis hardware specs, game release dates, information about the games, etc., not "which of these three Genesis games are better than this Nintendo game?" That is pretty subjective. How can an answer be wrong?

A trivia game like that would be hard to do in my opinion. There are hundreds of Genesis games so asking specific questions about individual games would make the game accessible only to diehard Sega fans who have played more than just usually handful of 5-15 games.

Hi, thanks for your honest feedback. I get your point, but I think that it's not a pure trivia game, but more of an arcade / trivia hybrid.

The idea is that there is an "obvious" answer for each question. For example, "Gunstar Heroes" is a better game recommendation for a player liking "Contra" than "Night Trap" or "Pulseman". In total there are 30 different Genesis game featured - enough to have some variety, but not too much so you can remember them with practice. And then, with this "knowledge" in mind, you have to be quick to catch NES players and recommend them better games. The play time is very limited (30 seconds at start), but you can get extra time if you manage to get three answers in a row. Of course, the number and speed of NES players increase in "waves" with time. So dexterity is almost as important as knowledge in this game (at least, that was my intent when I made it).

I agree with you that a full trivia game would be very hard to do, that's why I tried a different formula.

By-the-way, If you want, you can also play the game online for free here: https://drludos.itch.io/30-years-of-nintendont
It was released online for free as it was first and foremost a way for me to celebrate the 30th birthday of the Genesis.

The cartridge release is here because several people asked for it, and I found it a good way to help people play the game on real hardware. We did some specific work for this release too, by including two bonus games and a set of postcards as "extra materials".

Hi everyone!

Just a reminder that the preorder period will close around November 15th, so if you want to grab a physical copy, now is your chance:
http://cotegamers.com/shop/en/genesis-mega-drive/43-test.html

Indeed, the sales numbers are very low, so it's unlikely that there will be any extra copy available for sale after the preorder period, nor another run in the future. So even if it wasn't the plan, it seems that it'll become a "limited edition" after all! ;)
