Obviously this year it makes sense with whats going on but from what I remember hearing, with so many major conpanies announcing that they would not be involved with E3 this year, does anyone think the show will actually return next year? With games inching closer and closer to an entirely digital space, and with publishers being able to make announcements instantly via Twitter and Youtube, there's no need for a physical presence anymore.

I dont really care either way. These shows are basically just a big circle jerk session for journalists, industry insiders.

Even before the pandemic E3 was outdated all ready.Since most publisher were having there own events for live streams etc.Heck, geoff keighly will be having there own for digital on the "summer game fest" with announcements from various developers.

Nintendo saw the writing on the wall in 2013 when they went all digital. Slowly devs abandoned E3 and more and more did digital events and now with the pandemic, they all are. Yeah E3 is dead. E3 2020 was going to be a bunch of "influencer" and celeberty driven garbage anyway in a desperate attempt to stay relevent.

Gah..."influencer"...the concept and the fact it's a recognized "thing" makes me twitch. But on the flip side, it sounds like it has more esteem than say a "salesperson", which is really what an influencer is in the Old Tongue.
