I forget... I think the Mega SD games are for the Sega pac, but I may be mistaken.

Actually...

Can I play mega-drive carts on this unit as well? I've never seen one so I have no idea.

What is a Mega-SD though? I've never heard of that...

A Mega SD is what you get when you drink three shots of espresso and then try to type. It's a typo.

From the DP Laseractive Rarity List (http://www.digitpress.com/lists/laseractive.pdf):

"With the Mega-LD module plugged into the LaserActive, you could now play Sega Genesis cartridges, Japanese Mega-Drive cartridges (without a converter!), Sega CDs, and Mega LD games. It won’t handle Mega-CDs or PAL or SECAM Mega-Drive cartridges."

Thanks for the info.

Is there some kind of converter that will allowi it to play mega cds?

Thanks for bearing with me, I'm brand new to the genesis/laseractive field.

If you get your hands on the japanese Mega-Drive module (PAC-S1), that will allow the play of MegaDrive games and Mega CD's. Pretty easy to find on yahoo japan http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp

Sisko:

You'll need PAC-S1 (MegaDrive module) to play Japanese MD games, I tried to plug in MD games into Genesis module, only the early titles work. From what I've heard, more Euro MD games work on PAC-S1 than PAC-S10.

The MegaLD games, however, are universal.

I can barely read the japanese yahoo auction page let alone buy anything from it LOL

Anybody know where I can score the Pac-s1 on an english site?

How much do these typically go for?

For what, then? Entirely original stuff? Japanese-only games? Copies of Sega CD games?

Their own games.

Gives a pretty good rundown on the system and games.

OK, I'll try to answer this again which has been discussed before, my collection pic below says it all, there're total of 31 unique titles, 18 of them were published in US/Canada markets, yellow labels MegaLD (requires PAC-S1 or S10), green labels LD-Rom2 (requires PAC-N10 or N1 - which are TurboGrafx and PC_Engine modules)

I've recently acquired Blue Chicago Blues and 3D Museum MegaLD US version so my US collection is complete (1st row). The only unique Japanese title I don't have is Time Gal, but if I want the same game on both formats and both versions, I'm still missing the following games

Don Quixote - Japanese MegaLD
Road Blastor - Japanese MegaLD
Pretty Illusion 1 and 2 - MegaLD versions (I have LD-Rom2 versions for both and I don't feel compelled to get those, they're hard to find and those titles suck)
Blue Chicago Blue - Japanese MegaLD (I have the other 2, US MegaLD and Japanese LD-Roms)
Melon Brain - Japanese LD-Rom2
Vajra - Japanese LD-Rom2

3 games that received both versions that US didn't are Blue Chicago Blues, 3D Museum, and Melon Brains, the reason being TurboGrafx doing poorly in US, so in US they're MegaLD only. In general, Japanese only titles are adult and most really suck, with notable exception of Vajra 2 (the game on the right of 2nd row)

Of all the games in the pic, the rarest is 3D Virtual Australia, I came across this game JUST TWICE within 3 yrs of my diligent search, this is the last MegaLD game.
