Storing game boxes seperately from the cartridge or disc?

Does anyone do this? I feel that every time I open a fragile cardboard game box or jewel case, it is putting more stress on the flaps or the hinges. It also gets very cluttered when you have a lot of empty boxes lying around. and then how do you keep everything alphabetized if youre missing the box for some of the games?

I plan on putting all my boxes into cardboard boxes since I rarely look at them. I am going to put all my discs into a CD holder.

Most of my old school collection are in cheapy old school drawers like these. Some are converted from VHS or cassette. I have other DVD-cased systems on shelves, and whatnot. However, I began collecting boxes again, so as that's been happening, I've been filling up big plastic containers. Eventually I think most of these drawers will go, and I'll put more hardware there. I have so many ODE's, flash carts, etc. that I almost never need to use an original cart or disc anymore. This setup made sense for 12 years but no longer.

I usually keep the game and boxes together, otherwise they tend to get misplaced from time to time.

Generally, I keep the games in the boxes.

One exception is for deluxe boxed games that have a normal style retail box inside a larger cardboard box (like Project X Zone and Kid Icarus: Uprising on 3DS, or Pokemon HeartGold on DS) . I store the outer cardboard box and extras elsewhere for those.

Otherwise, I just accept the wear and tear. To be honest, a lot of my older cartridge games are mostly relics now, and when it comes to actually playing them, I am using an e-shop version, classic mini console, etc..

So how are you guys organizing them? I assume you have say a section for N64 games and within that section, you have your boxed titles alphabetized and then right after that, you have your loose N64 carts alphabetized?
