Easy game, hard final boss?

What are some examples of games you have played where the majority of the game is easy but the final level or final boss battle is far more difficult than anything in the rest of the game? My list is long.

- Super Mario Land 2
- Joe and Mac 2
- Toki (NES)
- Contra: Shattered Soldier
- Dragon Warrior (seem to remember the final boss taking way longer than the rest of the game)

I am sure there are way more but those are a few that came to mind.

thought of 2 more: Sonic 1 and 2.

Phantasy Star isn't exactly a super easy game but most of the difficulty is grinding and finding your way around in dungeons. Everything else is pretty straightforward. But even if you're on a high level the end boss is tough and you'll probably die a couple times before you beat him and don't even bother showing up weak.
