Last night I was checking on my PSX/PS2 games, sitting horizontally, in their cases, all of which I bought new, or used, and when I buy a used game, I will NOT buy unless it is in MINT shape.

That leads to my problem.

As I was looking at them, 90% of my CD/DVD based games had scractches on them...Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy 7,8,9,10,T,Ico,and all of my other favorite games, which I am not listing them all here.

I know for sure, that when I got them they were not like that, and I know nobody has touched them...I have played them rarely....but I don't know what has caused these scratches, does anybody know what the problem is?

Possible that there was dust in the cd case themselves, and the discs were turned in the midst of taking them out/putting them back in.

Personally, I stay away from setups that have the slide out tray (ala PS2) that won't let me stick the disc right on the spindle itself. I was horrified one sundry afternoon when my computer spit out a music CD and it was still spinning on the bottom of the tray.

I don't know what caused this to happen, but it has turned me away from CD/DVD games forever.

The ONLY cd based games I will be buying will be Snake Eater, and Gran Turismo 3. The rest of my gaming will be done on the PC, and my Gameboy Advance.

To be honest, it almost makes me sick seeing all of the scratches on a game, it is a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, sure, the games work, but I care how they look also.
