I mean.
I'd be more interested if they just said what the 'form' is going to be. The last iteration died cause it was ass, and that's ignoring that forcing a lazy population to play Sonic 2 on a touchscreen should have been identified as the bad idea it was about 20 years before touchscreens were invented. If this is just more of the same with a new coat of paint, no dice.

Exactly. I want to relive the old experiences as much as anyone else, but not on a computer, not on a phone. Those games were meant to be played with a sega controller on a reasonably sized, mostly square screen.

Looking into this again, the initial article from Time Extension is pretty much clickbait. Someone noticed some stuff changed, that was the big news. As it turns out, all games remaining in the old Sege Forever app were shut out in June (https://segabits.com/blog/2025/06/18/remaining-sega-forever-mobile-games-being-hit-with-end-of-service-announcements/) and the person who headed the initial development of the app no longer works for Sega. (https://www.timeextension.com/news/2025/10/the-man-who-spearheaded-sega-forever-confirms-he-has-left-the-company)
All and all, this doesn't look like the build up to a revival so much as them finally shuttering the service. As for the social media facelift, I'm guessing the PR guy just doing his job. The Sega Forever discord community was rolled into the standard Sega community at some point in the last year, so I'm calling "He's dead, Jim" on the whole thing.
