Len Herman has posted an article that a friend wrote awhile back, detailing the first and likely only Nintendo Play Station development unit. Good read. Obviously we're talking about decades having passed, so memories are likely not entirely concrete. However, I found it interesting that it seems like whatever Nintendo CD software development was occurring, was actually being done on the Philips hardware. This being after Nintendo intentionally scuttled the Play Station concept by choosing Philips over Sony.
