"Final Fantasy Adventure" for the Game Boy is going to be reissued for the GBA under the title "Sword of Mana" and will be graphically upgraded to look like the rest of the games in the series. This is excellent news! I always liked this game more than "Final Fantasy". :)

I still remember all the previews for the then upcoming "Final Fantasy Adventure II" for the Super Nintendo, being retitled to "Secret of Mana". And what's funny is.....I still don't own it! LOL It's on the hunt-list for years now. Imagine if it was a launch title....how much would you have bet it would have been called "SUPER Final Fantasy Adventure".. LOL

SUPER Ghosts and Ghouls
SUPER Castlevania
SUPER RBI Baseball
etc etc

But seriously, yeah, FFA was amazing. I'm really looking forward to the re-release.

"Final Fantasy" is cool (still my favorite of the series!), but an adventure game ala Zelda but with those RPG elements was WAY COOL at the time!

Your forum name reminds of back in the day when I used to read comics.

Yes, I first heard of this quite a while ago. It's probably the only first-generation Game Boy game that's going to get this kind of treatment, unfortunately. (There are plenty of people out there who would love to see a SaGa 3-in-1 pack.)

It wasn't exactly a game of tremendous quality, but it had its charms. The death of Amanda is probably the most emotional moment in any Game Boy game. (And it did it all in 2D with four shades of grey! Take that, Aeris!)

Not hard to top Aeris' death since it wasn't sad at all. (c'mon sylent, where are ya? :wink 2: )

But seriously, I can't let something like this slide without taking a pot shot at FF7 (one of my least favorite RPGs), so sorry. Don't actually want to start any sort of argument.

REALLY? I had no idea. I loved that game, and I don't like RPGs, but I'm taken aback that it was originally part of the Final Fantasy series. x_x

Yeah, for years I kept telling people SoM is really Final Fantasy Adventure II (which it is), but now I realize and admit that obviously the only reason it was named "Final Fantasy" was because it was a familiar name from the success of the NES game, and would sell the game on title alone, much more likely than if it was given a different name LOL. Same for the Final Fantasy Legend 1-3 games. Those 3 are titled SaGa 1-3 in Japan. And that series is now under it's real name in the US also.

Oddly enough, the Japanese title of the first Seiken Densetsu game was "Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden."

In FF Adventure, there are several characters and enemies from the final fantasy games that show up in it. In fact most of the townspeople sprites are taken from FF 1-3 on Nes. So the game is intended to be an FF spinoff.

Plus there's also the farmilar Chocobo music in the game. :D

But yes, FFA should be considered the prequel to Secret of Mana. The new name of the GBA version will better reflect that, I think.

When is it due out?
