anyone know or seen anything on a possible dead power base converter. I've taken thing apart and cleaned the hell out of it, every contact. but it's just dead, i just don't know of something wrong with the genny cartridge part or the sms slot. but it makes the same screen with nothing in the genny. Genny works fine and dandy on it's own.

if anybody thinks they can fix it, trade me an old sms! or hell offer any advice.

(corrected whatever drunken grammar i usedth)

Hmmm...interesting. The Powerbase Converter has very few components inside (it's mostly just a cart adapter and a small chip to tell the Genesis to act like a SMS) I wonder if your Genesis is the faulty component?

I would take it apart again and make sure none of the traces on the board are broken, check points where there are solder blobs at the end of traces as well. You'd be surprised how many cartridges I've fixed through these means.

I'm not sure what it is, but I have seen traces that have cracked, peeled up from the board or just generally don't have enough solder covering the contact points. Heat stress, vibration, etc, could be culprits.

Failing that, I sure could use the cartridge flap from that thing. Mine is missing the little door. :D
