Picked up a used Saturn from GameCrazy for $20. Got around to testing it out. Reads discs, check. Controller ports, check. Cartridge port, check. Memory, not working.

So I rummage around in my desk and find a CR 2032 button cell to use a replacement. I pop off the door in back of the unit and discover that the original ribbon that separates the cell from one of the contacts is still in place. I pull out the ribbon, find that the cell is still good, and I'm back in business.

So, at the very least, nobody ever saved a game in the internal memory on this Saturn. Which may mean that nobody ever played any games on it. Wow.

Nah, it could very easily mean someone else tried that replacement and did it incorrectly. It could also mean they played with a backup cart all the time.

Yeah, they could have exclusively used a backup cart. But NOBODY is going to take a loose piece of ribbon and stick it in between the button cell and a contact when they are trying to replace the cell.

Never rule something like that out. People are IDIOTS. Who knows? Maybe they didn't even have a backup cart but only liked games that don't save.
