Is this book still in the works or has it been canned? I remember hearing about it last year some time but haven't heard much since.

Also, was it going to be a book on how to Program for the 2600 or was it more of a collector's book? Are there any good 2600 programming / hacking tutorials out there for beginners?

Go to the atariage homebrew section of the forum. You'll find all the info you need there.

There's also Stellalist, though a FULL tutorial hasn't come out of it yet.

As to your actual question, the book was 2600 Programming for Dummies IIRC, so it's almost certainly more about programming than collecting or playing. Sadly, I have no idea when (or even if) it will be released. I'm looking forward to it, though the tutorials Andrew Davie is doing on AtariAge oughtta help immensely too.

There's also the Stella Programmer's Guide, but that's not for dummies.

I asked Mike Mika and Chris Charla about the book at CGE and they told me that they are no longer working on it.

Did they mention anything about finishing their port of Kickman?

No and I didn't ask.

Argh! Did they say WHY they were no longer working on it? Just too busy, no publisher, or worried about lack of market?
