It's been a long time since I've seen any video game commercials that I really liked and thought was quite good. Recently, Namco has used several that have had me laughing in fits.
Anyone recall their Dead or Alive Beach Volleyball one from a few months ago? It showed six teenaged boys, from all different backgrounds and cultures, playing the game. The scene would change back and forth from pictures of the game and the boys reacting to it, like opening their mouths wide, cocking their heads, or opening their eyes wide. Perfect. :D
Then there are the current ones for Soul Calibur II. Namco did a commercial for each version of the game. In each one, you're seeing the Point of View from the unique charcter in that game as a older guy talks to him and tries to convience him to change his weapon or get something else. It's the same guy in each of them, but what happens is a little differnet. After they show a short video of the game and talk about the unique charcter for that version.
My favorite HAS to be the GameCube one. Link is the unique charcter in this one, and the guy says, basicaly, to Link (and I know I'm paraphrasing here) --
"That sword of yours is not going to cut it. Here, take this one!"
Link looks at his sword.
WHACK!
(offered sword cut in two)
(look of surprise on the guy's face)
"Uh, okay, I guess that one will do just fine"
LOL :P
Oh man! If only they had done a commerical for Xenosaga. :-D
