I've been trying to snag one of these, but I just missed one on eBay....closed at $86 factory sealed. For those of you who've played it...how good is it? Is it worth the $?

Yeaup, it's good, and it's worth the dough... well, $86 is a bit high, but factory sealed..... I guess $85 is about dead on.

Now if I can only FIND a copy of the game! I've had a hell of a time locating one! :D

Join the club... and you know where I live.
Unfortuantely, it doesn't play so hot on the Xbox (no sound effects) so I have to break out the turbo for the full effect.

maxlords - man, that sucks that you didn't win that auction! I still have my contact keeping his eyes open for a copy. He ever finds one, I'll let you know. :)
I'll let you know what I think of it once my copy gets here.

It arrived today. Damn, is it sweet! Played through it already on easy without breaking a sweat, but got the bad ending (I had no idea you could KILL the Princess!).
I'm not sure yet if it lives up to the title of "best PCE game ever" - if it doesn't, it's damned close. Oh, and it did have the spine card included. It's in damn near perfect shape. :)
:embarrassed: Not to rub it in, max... sorry. :(

Glad to hear that it's worth some of the hype its gotten!
Funny, quite a few ppl I know who are into PCE gaming didnt even know this game existed less than a year agho, now its super highly sought after. lol things can sure change quickly...

I've actually had it for a while, and bought it on a whim (I didn't know it existed until I saw it). It was only $30 or so at the time I got it, and I fell in love with it.

I'm falling for it even more the more I play it. Now I've got both Kaze and Suzu to choose from. Played through it again on easy, but this time I saved the Princess. The ending is MUCH better this time.
Gaijin - what do you think of the fact that there's virtually no voice whatsoever in the game? I found it kind of odd at first, but it grew on me.
jay - If you can find it, grab it! It's definitely a good buy, and does a good job of living up to the hype, imo.
Some of my thoughts on it so far:
GREAT soundtrack. Lots of really sweet pieces of music, and the sfx are top-notch.
Combat is incredibly satisfying. I could just imagine what this would feel like if it had some form of vibration controller attached to it. I love how you can actually use your sword and shurikens to deflect thrown stars. The enemies aren't stupid, either.
The animation is incredibly fliud, especially on Kaze and Suzu. On top of that, it controls beautifully - there's no overly complex button combinations to use to pull of different moves.
There's not a lot of real variety in the stage design, which is sort of a letdown, but you're having so much fun wailing on enemies that you barely notice. Plus the bosses are fantastic!
The best ninja game on the Turbo that I had played until now was Ninja Spirit - and Kaze Kiri destroys it. (don't get me wrong though, I still love NS) Fans of the Shinobi series will realy get into KK - in a lot of ways, KK outdoes the Shinobi games.
On a final note, KK did make me think of one other thing - in a lot of ways, it's like a side-scrolling Tenchu, which is something I've wanted ever since playing Tenchu 1. Since we'll probably never have a side-scrolling Tenchu, I'm more than happy to have Kaze Kiri in it's place.:)

Sorry, max... I'll keep my eyes open for you. I do know a guy that has a sealed copy for sale. He contacted me acouple of weeks ago and offered it to me for the ridiculously low price of $250. I made a counter offer of $75, and he bid me good day.
I know that doesn't help, but maybe my contact will come through for you. :) He's found plenty of imports that I thought I'd never see...

I'd have to check my inbox and see if I saved any of his emails...

Ah, the old days of the inbox.
You know, I saved all the addresses, and a lot of emails from anyone that ever inquired about a game. Maybe I should send out my annual spam telling them to check out my site. :) I'm bound to get about 10 "can you get" emails though, which keeps me from doing so.

Found him. I had saved one of his emails just I case I got desperate and actually wanted to pay that much for the game. His name is Robin, and if I recall correctly he was also looking for sealed Super Fami and sealed PCE games for trade. Here's his email - h.jansema@home.nl

Emailed him. I have lots of trade bait sitting here, and I also have the leverage of the last sealed one on eBay going for $86 :)

I tried with that seller. No dice. They seem to think that it's SUPER valuable and insists that Kaze Kiri sold for "$200 only a couple years ago, and $130 a year ago." I tried to explain how fast hte PCE market has fallen, but she? seems to think that she can get much better money than $85. Bah. I NEED KAZE KIRI AND FAUSETTE AMOUR!

Fausette is much more expensive.
$200 two years ago... $130 last year... uh... sensing a pattern?
Sheesh.

Yeah...Fausette is a bit harder to find too.
I know! I tried to explain how even rare PCE games are going down in value overall, but she wouldn't listen. $200 2 years ago, $130 last year, $86 this year.... There are almost NO exceptions either! *sigh* Well, someday I'll get it. There's a mint complete one on eBay right now from an HK seller, but it's $130! Too high.

Sorry about that, max. My contact's still hunting for you, though.
$200 for Kaze Kiri... as good as it is, it ain't worth that much.

Cool! I really appreciate it! I'll let you know if I come across one, but it's almost as bad as Fausette Amour to track down! Someday tho!
