Anyone else have these type people at their flea market? This guy consistantly sells burned copies the latest CD releases, but his biggest seller is his supply of CD-R PS One games and Mod Chips. The biggest selling game you ask? yep. you guessed it. THRILL KILL. For 10 dollars a pop! geez... its a BURNED COPY people! Anyways. I was just curious if you guys have these people in your area or not. I find them amusing but frustrating at the same time, because I know they are ripping little kids off, and it IS illegal.. Some people just need to be smacked. :smash:

At the fleamarket I frequent there are at least two to three tables with pirate movies still in theatres. Finding Nemo, Terminator 3, etc, etc. They're not even priced competitively! 18$ a pop. No trace of pirating games though.

I've seen a lot of burned DC games at yard sales this summer. People wanting good money for them, too. I've seen guys at flea markets selling DVDs that are clearly pirated... I mean come on, why even try to sell the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD and pass it off as legal?

gotta love the black market burners...theres a few guys at my favorite flea market with the bootleg movies and records. one day somebody called the cops over a domestic spat and these guys broke down their tables like the boat was sinking, as if jaded city cops give a rats ass about sony's copyright. its honestly hard to tell whats legit in the music sector, since they sell a lot of latin american music cds that might actually come with photocopied covers. one day i picked up charlies angels VHS on a whim, sure enough it was a camera in the theatre job, complete with coughs and heads in front of the screen...live and learn.

It's really sad people like that make money on people, if only they would spend a second with newsgroups they would understand how easy it really is to get that stuff at home on your own pc for just the cost of cdrs really.

Just bootleg an FBI badge and call his bluff. One good turn deserves another, and so on. ;-)

i want to just print up some business cards for whatever that group is A something Artist Rights(AARP oh no thats old people) or i forget and just walk over to these places and hand them my card, and say, hey if these items are out next week, your going to get arrested.

I've never seen games here but a few garage sales with CDs. And the bigest one is a small retail store that burns complilations of new songs and just label over the CD-R. I asked before how can they do that, and they say oh don't worry we have the artist permission.... yeah my ass. I wann give them my fake card. ...but if they wern't the ONLY full stocked SKA section record store in my area. I would have them for lunch!

I don't think any of the vendors at the flea markets I've been to are bright enough to know how to bootleg something.

now selling STOLEN goods... that's another matter.

I don't have proof but when you go to an open air flea market and you see several tables LOADED with the lastest PC's, Laptops, cell phones and pagers being sold by 2 scruffy guys in a rusty old van what would you think?

Yeah, I've seen the movies but not games. It kind of suprizes me, because a lot of the bootleg movie sellers also sell games, but the games are legit.

I have never came across people in my town trying to sell pirated games or new movies. Sure there is the occational person that sells VHS tapes that they taped off of TV, but that isn't the same.

Bootlegs are bad.

Hey did you hear that Cleveland is going to get a professional lacrosse team? They're going to be called the Steamers.

I find this information to be dubious.

There was a guy at one Flee last summer who was selling old radio shows on Mp3 cd-r's.. thought that was funny.. a 80 year old guy pirating.

Seriously I could care less if people are stupid enough to buy pirated DVD's. They could have spent 4 bucs more for the real deal..

As for the music industry... FUCK EM!

This goes on a lot at the flea markets I go to. You can always tell the fake cds, because they obviously use a bad printer..."I didn't know that J. Lo was green on the cover of her new cd!!!"

One of my favorites was when they were selling the new Black Eyed Peas cd three days before it even dropped nationally. You could tell because they had it playing on their cd player, and you could hear stuff like "AOL First Listen" at the beginning of one of the songs...great stuff!!

"Wow, they have the brand new Nickelback cd for $3!!!!!!"

-overheard at booth two weeks ago...

Don't they know that the fans in Cleveland don't support teams unless they are either championship-calibar, or are the Browns?

Wanna fix those motherfuckers real quick? Carry a bat to the flea market and ask him if he has some new cd in the back of his van/moped crate/whatever and then bash the fuck out of his "goods" with the bat while he looks. Worse case scenario, he'll jump you and you beat his scummy ass. Best case scenario, he calls the cops and gets locked in the metal clink.

HOWEVER, there are RARE excuses for bootlegs, case in point:

I've seen people selling bootlegs of Disney's "Song of the South," which Disney refuses to release on video/dvd in the US becasue they feel it is racist. Another thing that I don't consider to be piracy really is when people sell live cds or videos that they PERSONALLY took, so long as they don't grossly overcharge more than the price of the tape/cd itself.

Bootleggers are scum to the max, fuck 'em.

Yeah..till you hit the flea markets here and see the scummy bastards charging triple eBay for games. And there are lots of pirates here as well. I think people just don't notice or something. I'd love to see every one of those bastards go to jail and get ass raped.

This is exactly how my flea market is. This guy is charging 80 dollars for a loose Nomad, which he has two of every Saturday at the Flea Market. WHO BRINGS 80 DOLLARS TO A FLEA MARKET!?
