Atari 2800(paddle & joystick controller combo.Info/pics please.

New Question below..

I just got the email below from a friend of mine,He doesn't have the means to take pics and that's all the info he provided..

I want to see what these look like.. Pics/info/link please..
Are these controllers the "holy grail" of 2600 machines?

Who makes them...?

Anyone have a set of these..?

What are they worth..?

An Email from a Friend of mine..

I just picked up an Atari 2800 (paddle & joystick controller combo which means you dont have to plug-unplug controls).
This is the "holy grail" of 2600 machines, as you just push a (lighted) button to switch from standard joystick mode to paddle mode. All 2600 controls are backwards compatible, in case you need (or want) to use a regular stick or paddle set.

This plays all of my 275+ carts without switching paddles!

I have some of the controllers. they are nice. the problem i have with them is the fire buttons break very quickly. the design is bad. the is a thin metal rod that provides the spring back of the buttons and they break all the time. I have 6 of them and half are broken.

I just realized he wrote 2800...I'm so used to reading 2600 that I skipped right by that assuming it said 2600.. :D

I informed my friend with the great info you guys posted..

His reply..with sort of a question I would like to answer..

His Reply.

Yup, that's it. It was called ATari 2800 in Japan and
it was sold at SEARS and called (Tele Games) Video Arcade 2.
I am unaware of any other USA retailer that sold these, although it's possible that Radio Shack may have sold these, too. (They sold Intellivisions under the TANDY brand at Radio Shack.)

My Question would be ..
Did any other Company sell the 2800 like........ Radio Shack,etc..?

Found a great site (http://www.freelancer-games.com/MP/A2800.htm) on the 2800 system, with LOTSA pictures! Check out the original artwork for Air-Sea Battle :)
