So, that's Eidos, Acclaim and Codemasters who've dropped the cube now.
Who knows, soon it won't have any shit games published for it.

Still, it's not a good thing as other companies will start to look at this as a trend very heavily and begin jumping ship too.

In defence of:
Eidos: Deus Ex 2, Time Splitters 2, Hitman 3

Acclaim: Burnout 2, and well, umm........

Codemasters: Operation Flashpoint, Colin McRae 04

Lagging behind in Europe and the US, if it wasn't for Japan.......

Seriously though, this sort of thing is never good. Looks bad to prospective consumers. This Xmas season is going to be very interesting, and important, as it appears to be do or die in the US and Europe.

Nintendo needs a title to do what Splinter Cell did for the Xbox last Xmas. Don't know what that will be though, if Zelda, Mario and Metroid couldn't do it so far I fail to see how 1080 Avalanche and Mario Kart will do it for them this Xmas season.

Nintendo's idea of quality control... become so unpopular with third parties that the worst ones refuse to publish games for their systems.

The Deus Ex series and Anachronox are definitely two pluses in Eidos' favor as has already been stated. Never played Timesplitters but it was on the best-sellers' list. Lara Croft was fun way back in the day when it was one of only two third-person games around...they just milked the franchise too long with no innovation.

And don't forget that Eidos was the company that published Final Fantasy VII for the PC.

I won't argue that they've had some crappy games in their lineup, but they're a far cry from Acclaim IMO.

If it's any consolation, you can pick up GC Timesplitters 2 for $15 and Swingerz Golf for $10 right now at KB Toys. I don't know if this has anything to do with Eidos dropping the Cube, but Timesplitters 2 is arguably the best FPS on the system, and I am currently addicted to it.

Oh, and IMO the best Acclaim game on the Cube was the Crazy Taxi port. Xtreme G3 sucked, Burnout was decent, and the port of 18 Wheeler and Turok sucked hard. Maybe, Acclaim needs to go the way of 3DO. Just throwing in my 2 cents...

Eidos doesn't own the rights to Timesplitters 3 so cube owners won't have to worry about losing that game. I'm sure they weren't crying when TS2 sold the best on Gamecube. The rest of their games are crap anyway so it doesn't really matter.
