Saw this in Nintendo's daily bulletin (paraphrased):

Consumers having their Gamecube reset to the Title screen at random points while playing F Zero GX:

The issue is not related to the game itself. Replacing the disc will not solve the problem. It is a hardware issue with the Gamecube itself. Any Gamecubes exhibiting this problem should be sent into NOA for repair. This will be considered a Warranty repair regardless of how long the consumer has owned their Gamecube.

Please pass on the word to stifle all the rumors and false fixes being passed around the internet, and if you have a Gamecube that is exhibiting this problem, call Nintendo at 1-800-255-3700

Does NOA cover the shipping expenses in these situations?

They can. If you set up a warranty repair, Nintendo has the option of using the "Express Program" where they arrange to have Federal Express come to your home or office and pick the package up, and the pickup and shipping is covered under the warranty. Shipping back out to the consumer (via UPS) is always covered by Nintendo. The only caveat is that someone must be available to fill out a form for FedEx, and it must be filled out properly to avoid being charged for shipping.

If you have an email address, then all the information needed is emailed to you, otherwise it's quite a bit to write down.

Well, I've been lucky so far, no resetting...I got my cube like last november though, so maybe its new enough to avoid that problem.

Oh man, there are so many bugs in Super Mario Sunshine. My favorite one is the one where you can set the water level to whatever height you desire.

I just got mine this spring so maybe I won't have this problem...I want to check out F-Zero soon.

What I would also really love to see posted are lists of locations that people have found the F-Zero AX consoles in the arcades. Is that still going on? I read about it in Nintendo Power several months ago - that you'd be able to download new drivers by taking your memory card and plugging it into an F-Zero AX console. Good arcades are few and far between, though...

How?

I remember one in the level where you roll the watermelon down the hill. I was collecting the red coins out by the coral reef, and, I fell down onto the bottom of the ocean floor. I could walk jump etc. for as long as I liked. I couldn't use My Fludd device though.

HUGE fucking bump, I know. Don't stab me too hard.

This offer is still valid, it seems. And apparently I'm not the only one with F-Zero crashes, in case you're wondering scooter. ;-) The new one will be here in 4-5 days. :O Yay for Nintendo customer service.

My machine doesn't seem to have this problem, so no worries there. But I'm wondering, if your machine has the digital video port, will the replacement have one as well? Because it would be a bummer to get a replacement that didn't have the DV port.

Hmm, that's a very good point. I hadn't thought of that. Fortunately I won't be affected personally, because I don't have the mythical component cables. Heh. So whatever.

Just to answer this a little better than it was addressed above. In David's case, Nintendo not only is shipping him a new GameCube, but all they expect from him is to put his old on in the same box, slap on the pre-paid shipping sticker, and drop it in a UPS box... or go into UPS and Drop it off. So he doesn't have to miss any gaming (except in F-Zero and the higher levels of Super Monkey Ball 2) while waiting for a repair/replacement. In short, Nintendo is taking care of David.
