most of time when i find a pong in the wild i'll take it for under $5 or just leave it but today i found a pong that just had to come home with me.
i mean can anybody else here say they have a console made of wood? not woodgrain, particle board, or laminate but honest to god tree made wood.
the thing is called VIDEO SPORT by intercon. its all solid 70s workmanship, CB grade switches and knobs, faux velvet lined battery compartment (5 C cells) and its wood! i think it may be a canadian thing, or maybe not, hows this address sound - 27 Don Alejandro Ave. Q.C. tel. no. 99-32-74. its sounds spanish but i figured you know northeast US find, Q.C. = quebec something?
found zero info about this thing online, anybody got a clue about it?
i doubt its worth a great deal but how much more retro can you get?

Don Alejandro Ave? My money's on Latin America somewhere. And that telephone number is weird. Canada uses the US style 3 digit exchange-4 digit extension format, right? I've never seen that 6 digit format before.

mm some small progress here, i googled the address and its quezon city in the phillipines. no luck on finding it in any pong FAQs or museum pages. there is a german company with the name "interon" who made some pongs but their models are quite different looking. perhaps it was just a small time short run company, local to the phillipines. you'd have to be in some strange country for it to be more cost effective to produce something out of wood than molded plastic.

That's it's correct but the telephone number his strange. I asked my dad if this was number used before the standart 555-5555 format. He was not able to give me a clear answer.
So it's probably spanish.

as soon as i can convince toddst to drop by, my camera would not even show the grain. heh i just noticed it has dovetail joinery, looks kinda like cedar. i also have the beat up box which shows the console in cartoon like outerspace with studio 54 font lettering.

I'm into that kind of wood thang too. I'd love to get that Pong by Entex with the wood- but that's probably particle coated. Pongs are really cool in their variety, but i'm going to have to dump all the low priority pongs I have that are loose and random since I don't have space for all of them.
