What is the biggest thing you've ever purchased on ebay? I'll start off:

A 1999 Honda Civic, 8k miles: $7000, in 2000

Wow, you bought a CAR on EBay? :) What was the story behind that? How did you get it? ANy problems? Still have it?

Yep, still have it, it was local so there wasn't any shipping or anything. It has about 62k miles on it now. The car itself has been fine. The purchase, though, was a fucking nightmare. The price was because it has a former theft title (it's been stolen, recovered, and repaired which destroys resale value). The kid I bought it from was going to make it one of those Fast and Furious type cars before he likely realized 1) it costs $100,000 to do that and 2) he's too fucking dumb, fat, and stupid to do it.

Halfway through the transaction I found out the kid had never properly titled it, never paid his taxes on it, and that there was a lien on it. The problem was that I already had the car, had put a good amount of money into the process (the state inspections for recovered theft are a bitch), and taken out the loan to pay the kid. So, basically, the car sat in my driveway for like 5 months while I sorted all of this crap out. The kicker was basically that the kid had told me the airbag system was completely replaced and functional, and the state cop doing the inspection looks at it and says "uh, not only does your SRS system not work, most of it is missing" and it cost me $2400 to replace the airbags and computer controller. All in all, I still got the car for about $9500-10000 which was a decent price, but not at all that trouble...

Bottom line: If the deal looks too good, it is.

Wow. Uh, I once bought a Hummel collectible plate for my wife for $200. Damn, I'm a frigging lightweight compared to you folks. Funny thing is, I KNOW I've spent thousands of dollars on 'Bay. But only at $50-100 at a time!

I've had two over $1000, three over $600, and several $300 +, but now I tend to spend in smaller chunks. Bought my laptop on there and it's still working great!

I've probably spent close to a hundred thousand dollars on ebay in the past 6 years, and ya know what? I think the MOST I've ever spent at once was like $400-$500.

Biggest lot I can remember STILL makes up most of my colecovision collection. Guy who worked at funco had an auction I won for a coleco system complete with controllers, roller, wheel, and atari adapter, with about 75 Colecovision games (You'll NEVER see a lot of 75 coleco games on ebay) AND an atari system with all the whistles with about 200 games. Think I spent about $400 on it including shipping.

THEN, when I found the funco label, I bugged him for some nintendo goodness. I convinced him to get me about 120 nintendo games using his discount, and about $15 shipping (ended up around less than a dollar a game)

The most I spent on ebay was about $15 Canadian for Dave Mira 2 for the gamecube.... I know, big spender. I rarely use ebay. I mainly trade or buy off people from the dp forums or the cgcc forums.

DAMN! Thats a friggin killer deal on the civic chad, provided everything worked fine.

My largest was for $180 for 2 DDR hardpads and the first US DDR Mix.

Not to pick nits, but what the hell ... I can clearly recall a lot of a bit over that size from around last Christmas. I know I've picked up at least one lot with that number of ColecoVision games in it.

But you're right about the lack of likelihood of hitting a 75+ Coleco title lot -- that's roughly 75% of the most obtainable game catalog in one shot.

I've been burned with shipping and will not bid unless I get a shipping quote beforehand. No Exceptions.

It wasn't worth it, really, in retrospect, considering all of the legal hassle it turned out to be.

My Mirace Piano for the NES. The winning bid was near $125, the shipping like $50 more or something like that. That beast isn't exactly light.

And to top it all off, the seller wrapped the once-pristine box with USPS tape and shipped it that way. No protection other than the box it came in. Unfortunately, the box looks like poop now. But hey, it works great, even though I still haven't learned how to play the damn thing.
