Ubi Soft's new logo is weird and creepy. It looks like an eye on a stalk, sneaking a peek through the porthole of a ship. I'm not a big fan of any logo that features a single eye... it always looks like the damned thing is spying on me.

When I first saw that picture, it looked more like a swirling drain. A drain is a most inauspicious choice for a company logo, I'd say.

What was wrong with the old logo??? It was easily recognizable and certainly more elegant. I guess they wanted on that was more macho.

On a side note, Konami's logo didn't need to be changed. Their red and orange symbol was instantly recognized by most gamers and their name was below it so the less initiated would know who it was.

So this is great. Our little focus group sees

wierdass eye on a stalk which is intent on subjecting you to tentacle rape
Xbox eject button (good vibes about Splinter Cell 2)

and I see something which looks about right for the setting of Deus Ex 2. Not the happiest choice of colors, and the web-theme doesn't help the feeling either. Maybe they want you to start thinking about conspiracy, death, and being hopelessly lost?

But yes, the tentacle eye is by far the easiest thing to see. For shame.
