i'm working on a project for my website which kinda lists games you should have played with a short description and 3 screens per game, my problem is that i have no possibility to make screenshots of e.g. gamecube games on my own. is there any site which has mid/good quality screens for free use??? i know of gamescreenshots.com, but i can't use their screens, when i save them, windows doesn't let me copy or move them :(

No problem copying/moving here. :hmm:

VGMuseum.com is a good place to find stuff, although I'm unsure as to how extensive their Next-Gen coverage is. It's worth a shot, though!

Sounds more like the default saving options for downloading from the web are set to make the file read-only?

Maybe you could ask people on here to cap stuff for you? Some graphics cards have Video-in these days so it's not as difficult as it used to be. I've done a few for my own site - the NTSC games don't come out as well as the PAL stuff (I'm from the UK y'see) but the screens don't turn out too bad. Click to see for yourself (http://www.webmad.co.uk/4images/categories.php?cat_id=2&s=d391f6310d520c98545229d95d0bbf50).

Thinking about how many games are collectively own by the members on here, it could be a good option? :)

Go to the offical site for each system, they (ie nintendo.com) they usually have screens of all their games.

I doubt they'd let you use their images free of charge though.

well, the problem with gamescreenshots.com is that if u open the big version of the image, it's a asp script, if u download the pic, it's called asp, but it is a jpg, but neither asp nor jpg can be moved or copied in explorer (no, this has nothing to do with read-only!!!)

the official sites of course have pics, but 1. i need pics that are free for use, i don't want a lawsuit 2. are those pics in damn good quality, to big to download so many with isdn :(

@devilman, your idea ain't bad, but i don't think anyone here will make 3 screenshots per game of a few dozen games if it's not for his own use ;)

and your pics are a little bit to blurry i think, though i am not sure which quality i should use for my site

@oobgarm, vgmuseum.com would be a good source if they would cover next-gen, they don't have a single gamecube screen, a few ps2, the only thing which i could get from there are 8-32bit consoles, but i can take screens of those on my pc (emulator)

Using any other screenshot with out the company who owns the trademarks aproval is just as illegal.

@BigBoogie: this isn't entirely true. Though the rules may differ for some publishers, I've had this discussion with quite a few over the years. They WANT you to use their screen shots. They WANT you to talk about their game. What they DON'T want is for you to claim that the game design, packaging, contents, or characters used within are YOURS. So if you represent the company, or represent the game as "not your own and copyright/trademark of so and so", there isn't a publisher in the world who's going to have a problem with screen shots.
