I need to pick up a new Television , my 27 inch Pro Scan is on the fritz. I was thinking of getting a 32 inch TV. Something good for gaming (PS2,XBOX and GC) and DVD's. I would need S Video Hookup too.
My ProScan was a gift and has given me problems in its 8 years. So I need something reliable, but not too expensive. Anyone have a recommendation?
Thanks

I would skip the WEGA since they're unnecessarily expensive. If price is a big concern, check out sears and bestbuy, they're BOTH clearancing out TV's right now and you can get some REALLY REALLY nice deals (RUN!!)
Anything by Sony is going to be your best bet I would say. 32"-36" is a good size for price value.
Come tax time, I'm personally hoping to get a 43" widescreen HDTV.

I didn't say they didn't look good. But getting a 32" WEGA for the same price or MORE than a good 43" Widescreen is just Stupid. (Not talking rear projection either, which I'm sure that re-tard, I mean re-volt probly likes as well...)

ill stay outta your guys personal beef, but i gotta say the wega is worth the money to me. you get s-video, composite, and 2 other a/v's . the picture is crisp, and the price has gone down. its not that much more than the same sized regular sony trinitron, which is a quality tv, but id get the wega for the extra bucks.

Aint no beef buttas, but glad u agree about the tv :D
you might as well get that HDTV now instead of April...while a refund may seem nice, it's all your money to begin with & it only means that you haven't put it to good use that tax year. You can quote me on this; I got it straight from a financial planner who said it for my benefit.

Wega is good, but I agree that if you're going to spend the money on one you might as well get an HDTV.
If you want a good TV with S-Video that is inexpensive, has S-video, and has a great picture you can usually get a 32" Hitachi for about $600, or a Panasonic would run you around $500, but a Wega would be near the $1,000 price mark, and for the difference it ain't worth it especially since HDTV will be making them obsolete soon. So you might as well get the best for your dollar cause if you haven't ever seen HDTV, well, lets just say you would laugh at the efforts Wega makes in comparison.
So I recommend Hitachi 1st, and Panasonic 2nd, both are really good, and reliable, and exactly what you need.
Btw, if you are thinking about going all out "which I heard you're not, but..." I would get the Sony KV40XBR800 40" HDTV Trinitron XBR for $2999.
I've closely inspected all the new HDTV's out there, and this sony model is one gorgeous mother! My jaw was on the floor at the 3-d look, the picture was very realistic, clear, crisp, and nothing short of being there in person "actually better!" it's gorgeous! None of even the other Sony models matched up to this beast, the only other HDTV's that came as close in clarity were the Hitachi's. The KV40XBR800 is one bad mutha, let me tell ya!

I actually picked up a very nice JVC cheap from Circuit City over the summer, and it's been absolutely excellent. Affordable, nice clean picture, S-Video, Component, and both front and back composite video in ports.

We play on a 61" Sony HDTV and it works very well. It's a little big for PS1 and before though, I would keep another few around for that.

27" Sony Trinitron goes for around $200-220 at most pawn shops.. It's really a great TV for gaming. as for HDTV's I know that my Top loader and 2600 don't work on my friends 16:9 so I'm waiting on that.

I've got two JVC I'Arts (20" & 27"), and I can vouch that they're awesome sets. Well worth the money I spent (about $300 for the 20" and about $700 for the 27").

4 Years ago I picked up a JVC 27", and it has worked perfectly since I bought it.
The TV has 1 S-Video input, and 1 Composite input, on the back. Not as many as I would have liked, but when I was shopping for it, nothing else provided the same quality for the same price with any more inputs, and I didn't want to lower my quality or pay a lot more n order to get more inputs.
Here's the problem: I think the design is boneheaded myself, but if anything is physically plugged in to the composite Video-In, the S-Video input is disabled. EVEN IF THERE IS NO SIGNAL ON THE COMPOSITE CABLE; even if there's nothing there but the wire!
The meant that for a while I couldn't use the S-Video, because doing so would prevent me from using any of my composite devices. Until about a year ago, switchers that would accept Composite or S-Video, and output everything on S-Video were a minimum of $100. Then, of all places, my solution came from Radio Shack. About a year ago I picked up a multiple-A/V-signal switcher from RS for about $40 that takes either input, and will output either style. I hooked it up to my S-Video in, and now I can use the Jag and DC in S-Video, and still watch the VCRs and PSX in Composite.
Aside from that annoyance, I've been very happy with my JVC.
Also worth consideration:
My old roommate picked up a 20" Stereo Panasonic sometime around 1987 or 1988. For at least 3 years he was unemployed and seldom went out, watching movies and playing PSX games constantly. (He was a sloth.) The TV is only lately beginning to show problems. It worked perfectly for over 10 years.
This week only, CompUSA has an Apex 20" Stereo TV with front, rear, and side S-Video inputs, for $99.00. Apex is probably el-cheapo crap, but you'll get a lot of TV for the money.
